As you probably don't know, because I haven't been on wifi for some time, I love Pokemon Trainer. One of the things, though, is my strategy isn't based on the Pokemon I play with, it is based on the one I start with.
For instance, starting with Squirtle, my goal is to rack up quick damage, through airs and the like, and get a KO in a minute and a half or less. If at that time, that isn't the case, it is time to call in Ivysaur, push them back (or at least get some distance) and close in for the smash. From there, my Charizard and Ivysaur play is conservative, only used when I can't get the change.....just so I can go back to the Squirtle strategy.
A start with Ivysaur is uncommon for me, mostly because it is one I can't use as well as the other two. Often times, if I am against a hitter, like Ganon, DK, Bowser, I find favor in Ivysaur, as it can dodge some moves a tad easier, while still using that KO potential. The issue here, though, is that you need to make space (well, I do D:), and all three have moves that close space fast. It's when the opponent tries closing in that I make the move, push them back, change to Charizard, KO. Change on the recover. Squirt around, gaining some damage, make the quick change, and back again. I find Charizard hardly gets used in this ploy, opposed to the first where I use both Ivy and Char as hitters.
And of course, Charizard. This is one Pokemon I love playing as, due to the KO potential, glide, and weight. Charizards tiilts are great, and with them you can set up each of your specials, as well as juggling. In fact, when I have a start as Charizard, I try avoiding the others unless absolutely necessary. The goal is to play as I would Bowser, factoring in air game and range. On the switch to Squirtle I'll go right at them, usually because I use Charizard on a smaller character. Therefore, I am far more aggressive, and waiting in the wings in Charizard.
Anyways, what are your Trainer strategies? Do you favor a particular Pokemon, or do you just have a universal strategy?
I use all of them evenly, and I never change in the middle of a battle.
Of course, he's been used a grand total of 10 times in Brawls, so its not top priority for me to make a strategy for him. D:
I also like using Charizard because of his power and weight. I usually start off with Squirtle and soften up the enemy before changing to Ivysaur. As Ivysaur, I just try to rack up a bit more damage and keep the opponent off stage until I switch to Charizard. As Charizard, I rack up a bit more damage enough for a KO.
Then again, I don't really use PK that much online, so I haven't practiced my strategy THAT much.
I never really switch, I just use whatever comes out.
Yeah, Pokemon switching can be vital to any Pokemon Trainer's strategy.
I start with Ivysaur, then switch to Charizard when I'm too injured, then when I die I come back as Squirtle and use him for a while before switching to Ivysaur again. And is it just me, or is Ivysaur actually lighter than Squirtle despite being bigger and slower?
