Title: Final Fantasy IV DS, now I have it.
Post by: The Riddler on August 03, 2008, 01:46:46 AM
The voice acting is better than I expected, and is quite fluid so far. The graphics are great and, though every character has oddly skinny legs, they all look nice. What I did notice though is that the game is a intercourse  of alot harder. I could hardly keep Rydia alive between Kaipo and meeting Tellah, and  Octomammoth killed me twice. I just reached Mom Bomb, and she killed my entire team (who were at full health) upon exploding. I have to rethink my strategies to this game since every enemy does alot more damage.

In any case, so far:

I'll keep you guys updated on my thoughts of this reincarnation of the game. FFIV has always been my favorite game and I refuse to let this one beat me.

Made it to Troia. So far the cave is ridiculously tough, because the monsters attack "Blaster" is so intercourse ing accurate. Also, no place to buy Ether, so Tellah is intercourse ed.

Good challenge though.

I just started dabbling into the augment system. Sucks that you can only get some before you lose members of the party, guess I'll have to get those on my second play through.  Some of these things are useful though. I'll explain more once I have a better understanding.

I'm in the Underworld right now, and I'm facing the Dancing Calcabrina (new spelling in this game.)
I've fought her at least 6 times now, and I'm getting really, really frustrated.
The first time I fought her, beat her in three hits thanks to Twincast with Rosa and Cecil. Golbez then beat me in three hits.
Beat her a couple of times, but didn't get the Bestiary note for some of the dolls because they formed before I killed them.
And all Golbez does is Nuke me, Fira, Blizzara, Thundara; Rydia doesn't stand a chance nor does anyone I revive. I can't seem to time it right to get Kain in the air, either.

Christ, I'm getting mad.

Make sure you rearrange your party so that your front lines are in back and vice versa before you cross the bridge. If you don't do that it'll be very tough. At least that's what you did in the original and GBA version. I'm guessing it's the same in this game.

I plan to get it the next time I go to Gamestop. It looks awesome and 4 is my favorite of the series and on of my most favorite games ever. My only qurrel is that from what I've seen the "child" sprite style has been kept. 4 is meant to be a darker, more adult game, so I believe a sprite style upgrade would have been nice for that.
