Title: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Post by: bluaki on August 19, 2008, 04:37:31 AM
Well, even with a long poll, I'd rather this thread be just a discussion of the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles games.
I personally like both a ton, and overall like the GCN game much better. A few aspects for Ring of Fates are good, though.

My choices in the poll
Magicite: GCN method, with infinite casts
Jump: GCN method, no jumping
Miasma streams: DS method, not limiting the available stages based on year
World map events: GCN method, allowing random events while navating the world map
Clavat class: GCN method, being an all-around class
Lilty class: GCN method, being warriors
Selkie class: GCN method, being just fast and not archers
Screen restraints: DS method, using no miasma and allowing free movement in both towns and stages
Towns: GCN method, having numerous towns each with unique themes and features
Clothing affecting appearance: Indifference, since the GCN method seems awkward to still be wearing cloth after equiping some metal armor, the DS method tends to make character appearance seem worse in higher armor, the GCN method tends to give me less character customization, and the DS method might make me want to equip lower stat armor because I like the appearance better. I'd like it if appearance and stats could be customized seperately, really.
Stat raising: GCN method, I prefer artifact hunting over just repeating any level for exp, and I like having HP and command slots tied into it.
Bag: DS method, being able to hold like 99 of every item or something like that
Tribal abilities: GCN method, as they just seem pretty annoying and pointless to have
Map: GCN method, I love detailed maps (I wouldn't doubt the change being because of jumping)
Character creation: GCN method, because I like the extra touch of customization and how it makes me more satisfied with my character's appearance
HP: GCN method, I like heart icons
Command slots: GCN method
Hair color: DS method, as it's another touch of customization
Pausing: GCN method, though I'd like it better if menus could be navigated during pause
Family: GCN method

It only shares a few things, like some enemies and such, but are generally completely different.
Comparing Crystal Chronicles to the other FF games is like comparing... the handheld Mario RPGs (SS and PiT) to the first two Paper Mario games. I think. I haven't really played other FF games much.

It looks like somebody wasn't answering the poll right...
Magicite last infinite casts, but disappear after finishing the level, unless you get the ring artifacts    3 (5.1%)
Magicite only last one casting    1 (1.7%)
Total Voters: 3

Out of every pair of choices, only pick one of them. Not both. If you're undecided, pick neither.

...actually, it looks like that third person picked the first 20 of 40 poll options.
