Yay, first topic on the Power On board :) :) :)
Anyway, I just wanted to know... How seriously do you (yes, you) take video games? Do you rip your hair out if you do poorly, or do you brush those nuisances off your shoulders, and just keep playing?
Personally, I don't take video games too seriously. I'll get frustrated now and then, but that's probably the pinnacle of it. I don't have tantrums and throw my controller at my console :| :| :|
Post away, kids :D :D :D
I don't really take them that seriously. Sure, I get mad if something goes wrong.
And maybe I might get really angry,so I just go do something else for a while. ;)
I wouldn't say that serious, unless I am playing friend and there is money involved(Such as a bet or wager).
Depends on the game and/or the person I'm facing.
I hurt people occasionally, ask Lichi >_>;
Normally I get angry at something annoying, but not generally at people, unless it's really stupid.
Like Zelda reflecting Thunder.
Depends on the day. I'll get fustrated if I'm trying to get a Full combo on a song and I miss one step.

This.
I also take RPG's seriously.

Both of these.
I only take RPGs and MMORPGs seriously and that's only because I want the strongest possible character in the game.
I try to get the best equipment and spells for my characters and if I lose or sell a weapon by accident I get mad >:(
not very seriously...
But there are some moments in the NES Super mario bros. that just piss me off :P
Oh, and doing a really hard challenge and failing sometimes makes me angry.
You know it's a game but you get mad off at that one thing you can't beat.
Depends on the game and if it has online play or not.
There's just something about knowing you're losing to a real person that makes you get annoyed...

I get annoyed knowing I'm losing to artifical intelligence :-\
I'm loving these answers :P
I dont normally take them seriously.
I only really get mad at mario kart.
If I can't beat a game everyone has beat.....or if I lost to a button-masher.
I like to think I play hardcore games casually and casual games hardcore. I usually just dabble in more-involved games, but I really strive for perfection in more arcade-ish games, especially rhythm-action games (especially Stepmania and DDR :P). I think that goes along with my habit of trying to perfect things that don't matter.
Nope.
Pissed off is the extent of my anger at a game... never thrown anything or done anything like that. D:
No, I will never take video games seriously. Anybody who really does needs to go find another hobby if you ask me. They are just electronic toys that got popular by accident. I play games for fun, and to me they replace books. I dont get angry when i lose. I just say "Well, I will beat it eventually" and play another day (even if I probably wont beat it)
Pretty much same as you. If I lose or something, I just say "Oh, poop. That sucks..", and try again. I'm not the type to grab my controller and chuck it at the tv or something.
I only get angry when my time become seriously wasted. Trying to beat a single level for two hours, Dying after not saving for twenty minutes, absurd backtracking...
Depending on what I'm doing, I won't go crazy when I lose, but there are some times when I'll go nuts and fling my controller somewhere.
im one of the hardest core gamers you will ever find.
I always take them 100% seriouslly, if I lose then I get better until I can beat down the person who beat me.
Not really. I might cuss out the game once in a while. No going crazy or anything. I've only done it twice, once yesterday. D:

This too. How the hell did I forget!? I'll be like "YES! Finally FCing Tsugaru! *Gets a Good on that slow as hell part* AAAH WTF!?" All of the soft mats I've owned have been thrown across the room at least once during their short life-span.
Depends on the game. ...Sorta. >.>
I try not to take games seriously, but I've found myself cussing-out the TV or chucking my controller across the room. Sometimes both!
I'll get minor tantrums sometimes. Like, I'll go RAAARRARAAGH and forcefully shut the game off. And go sulk somewhere. XD
So, sorta seriously, sorta not...XD
When playing with friends, it's always relaxed and chill.. at least for me. I just need to live up to being the gamer of the group and make sure I overall win, haha, and I usually do.. and when I don't, I'm still having fun and someone else gets a taste of victory.
If there's something in a game I'm doing on my own.. it depends really..
Like.. Super Smash Bros. Melee. In the Event Matches, I'll get pretty involved. If I'm trying really hard for a best time and something happens and really messes up how long the match should take, I might clench my teeth a little and suck some air in.. and it sounds almost like I'm hissing I guess?... and this only happens when I'm a bit frustrated.
For example, I kept restarting the first Event Match 'cause I kept getting between 13-20 seconds.. and I knew I didn't perform my strategy exactly as planned and I'd quickly restart within seconds when recognizing a slight mistake. I dunno if under 13 seconds is good or not for that match.. but it's my personal best right now and I'm somewhat satisfied with that.
Or if I keep failing at a certain section in a platformer that shouldn't be a huge challenge but I fall into just doing the same mistake over and over again..
But all it does is inspire me to try harder and really, I love gaming, it's a great activity and usually a stress-reliever too.. if you let it be. Sometimes I just want a challenge though. ^_^

What I hate is how in games against the computer, they tend to be better than you, but when they're on your team, they're intercourse ing idiots.
Wouldn't care unless it's for money. Or my life. (but what are the chances of that?)

Maybe you get kidnapped by some psychotic gamer... I don't know :| :| :| :|
I dont take things to seriously unless it's someting I need to unlock/achieve :O
I don't. I usually intercourse around with people online cause it brings me more fun =/
It depends. Games like Spilnter Cell or Call of Duty I take seriously, because they are set in the real world. Games like GTA, Serious Sam, Mother, etc. I don't take seriously, because they are fictional.
Unless you mean serious as in "I have to beat this game, nothing else matters! *Foam at mouth*", Yeah, I guess I kinda do. I never just forget about a game until I've beaten it. And even then, I'm a glitcher. I gotta explore for glitches! And glitch finding I take REALLY seriously, like some of you have seen.
I get angry, and take RPG's more seriously than movies.
Things with stories I take seriously.
Otherwise, whatever. Except GTA3 and GTAVC. GTASA, I take seriously though...
I am serious enuf to play them
If I get my ass handed to me more than 8 times consecutively I will become infuriated.
I always enjoy a great story, but I'm flexible enough to except games lacking in the depth department.
