The Olympics will be coming to a close tonight at 7:00 PM EST.
I know most of you don't care about the sports, so the Closing Ceremony will probably start in half an hour (8:00 PM EST.
These Olympics were incredible and for those who missed the sports, you definitely missed a lot!
So many highlights!
- Michael Phelps taking home 8 Gold Medals.
- Nastia Liukin earning the All-Around Gymnastics Gold Medal with Shawn Johnson taking Silver.
- Usaine "Lightning" Bolt annihilating everyone in all his runs.
- Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh defending their Olympic Gold Medal in Beach Volleyball
- U.S.A dominating Volleyball having both the men and women in Beach Volleyball taking Gold, Women's Indoor Team team taking Silver, and the Men's Indoor Team playing tonight for Gold.
- Americans taking Silver and Bronze in the Team Finals in Gymnastics (Women took Silver; Men took Bronze).
- U.S. Men's and Women's Water Polo team surprisingly taking Silver.
- A Kenyan bringing home the first Gold Medal for his country in the Marathon.
- A 38 year old Romanian woman winning the Women's Marathon.
- An Aussie diver upsetting the Chinese Diving Team by taking the last Gold Medal, leaving China with only 7 out of the 8 Diving Gold Medals that they wanted.
- BMX Racing making it's Olympic debut with so many awesome crashes.
- The U.S. "Redeem Team" taking home the Gold in Men's Basketball, with the Women taking home their 4th straight Gold.
...And so many more!
It's sad that the Olympics must come to a close and we must wait another 4 years for the next Summer Olympics in London.
At least we have the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 to look forward to. ;D
is the Closing Ceremony another awesome show?
Closing is done, they aired it. Jackie Chan sings, a bunch of Cirque de Soleil with light suit stuff, flag march, the passing of the flag, etc is long done.
It should be.
Part of it is going to include "handing it over" to London with performances by Jimmy Page (for you Led Zeppelin fans) and Leona Lewis, but I'm sure the Chinese will put on an amazing show.

Yes...
I know that, but due to the time delay, they're showing it now.
But people here actually want to watch it, including me, and I tried to read as little of that post as possible..
Yes, and Beckham kicks a soccer ball, and giant drums in the air, etc. All on before lunch time. Time delay my ass, they showed the whole thing 6 hours ago.
The American Men beat the Brazilians in Indoor Volleyball!
That makes 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver for the Americans in the 4 Volleyball Events! :D
The Closing Ceremony has just started.
god I hate leona lewis' voice.

You really didn't miss much of Jackie Chan.
They showed him for like 10 seconds and he was singing in a group.
The Closing Ceremony was great!

I honestly can't believe the Olympics are already over.
It feels like just yesterday I was watching the Opening Ceremony.
There is no other program greater than the Olympics.
The impact that the Olympics has on the world is amazing.
For 17 days, the world stops and everyone puts aside their differences, just to come together and compete as one.
Just like Collinsworth said earlier in the broadcast, if we can stop fighting for 17 days, why can't we continue the peace?
There's no other show that can make me watch over 68 hours over a span of 17 days.
I'm just so glad I was able to watch these Olympics and hope for even better in 2012.

Good thing there wasn't a game to mimic the Olympics.
