I got Super Mario Galaxy back in December and I loved it for the first month.
I had 30 stars and I really loved the game.
However, for some reason, I just stopped playing.
I played a tiny bit over all these months, but never sitting down to play for an extended time.
I picked up the game a few weeks ago at around 40-something stars, and I've been playing it whenever I get a chance.
I have no idea how or why I stopped playing this game.
It's absolutely amazing.
At this point, I have 61 or 62 stars and I'm going to try to finish getting all the power stars in the Garden (not including hidden or comet stars) before going to the "center of the universe."
This leads me to my topic:
What did you think of Super Mario Galaxy.
It's easily one of my favorite Mario games, and probably one of my favorite games of all time.
good. period.
It was cool. But imo, not very much replay value.
i think it is one of my favorite mario games.
it is very well done.
it was fun, but like JrDude said not a lot of replay value
It was good, but not great.
Too linear, easy as all hell (100% completed Mario AND Luigi in three days...).
Better than Sunshine, but not as good as 64...
That's my official stance XD
It was good, but too easy. The music and graphics were kickass, but the Difficulty was meh. The hardest boss was Bouldergeist! (Daredevil Run.)
This sure beats Sunshine, which is one of the crappiest games I've ever played.

Sunshine wasn't THAT bad, but yea this game was WAY too freakin easy.
Only hard parts:
Bouldergeist Daredevil (like you said, even then all you had to do was stay directly in front of him)
and Dreadnaught 100 coins....only because if you miss 1 you're screwed.

How long would it take you to get a star on an average mission?

Just one of those average missions.
Bored me to hell; there wasn't really a story that was remotely good, it was ridiculously off balanced in terms of difficulty, with some parts (most) being very easy, with some randomly placed hard segments, and it just lacked in pretty much everything, sans the Sound department. It was, and likely still is, over-hyped, and overpraised. It is good, but that's about it. So, ya, my thoughts.

I suppose you're going to say that Sunshine was actually good?
It was good, but it had difficulty balancing issues and was linear.
It's better than Sunshine, but only by a little. I LOVED that game and beat it like 4 times. I beat Galaxy once with Mario and never touched it again.

No, Sunshine had me bored within ten minutes, Galaxy took about 15. I did prefer some aspects of Sunshine, but Galaxy is better than it...not that it takes much at all.

I rarely buy single-player games for replay value.
Usually going once through the game is enough for me.
It was a fun game and all, don't get me wrong, but it could have had so much more. Playing through again as
Luigi
was just plane weird at times. *coughluigimissionscough* The main hub of the game, like in sunshine, was small and easy to navigate. The game was just too easy and linear (though it's probably so that "casual gamers" can play the game as well). But it was fun to play through once, I just found myself bored going through the game again.

Like I said before, the games difficulty balancing was horrid. It could go from being stupidly easy to insultingly hard so quickly.
Difficulty wise, Nintendo makes three types of games. Games that are super easy like Kirby and the Wii series, games that are super hard, and almost unfairly so like F-Zero GX, and games that are a mix like Galaxy.

Actually GX is the only good challenging game in the last like, six or seven years Nintendo hs made...(even tho it was SEGA). Galaxy wasn't a mix! It had like, three hard stars out of 121! Galaxy was WAY too easy...Nintendo doesn't like challenges anymore, it's rather sad.

121?
I thought it was 110 or something.
I don't think I'm gonna end up getting all 121.
I only have 60-something. O_O
110? Hah!
No it's 120 With Mario, 120 With Luigi, then a new star appears making it 121 for both, so technically it's 242 Stars.

still easy as crap tho...the 121st is a darn 100coin star "challenge", even tho it is IMPOSSIBLE to die in that level X_X;;
I want a challenging Mario game again ;_; NSMB didn't cut it XD
