Some time ago, I proposed to the SIT the addition of the Shop and a Wiki, both of which were features of FCD.
Some members flatly didn't like the idea, some did, and some were selective. So, before I go and really ream the topic out, I want to know what you would think of these features.
In order for either to work, especially the Wiki, the users have to be involved. I really would like a Wiki, because it could expand profiles, provide info on events, and offer NSFCD's perspective on a number of things. The shop, at this time, is sort of limited, unless you want to really fiddle with code, but it has a lot of potential.
So, I'd like your thoughts. Consider this a second chance at helping the SIT, because last time, it didn't go so well.
I could really go for a Wiki.
Shop would be cool for............shopping ;D
I think a Wiki might be cool for a while, but then would be completely ignored, like Outsider's and Boyah's.
Shop is generally annoying to me, because it seems very gimmicky.
Shops and wikis are fine as long as you don't go overboard with a ton of pointless shop items. And the wiki seems like something people won't keep up. But I don't see any problem with adding either one.
I remember we did have a shop for about half a day.

Plus expensive poop.
'Change Display Name Change your name! Price: 1750.00'
'Steal Luts Try to steal credits from another member! Price: 2000.00' <-Yeah, -2K for like Chump Change in triple digits :\

I also agree with that, but if a Wiki actually had regular upkeep, it would be nice to have.
also hi genius
I like the idea of a wiki. A shop seems to make things a bit harder. Like how you could easily change your name now just by asking but if the shop gets implemented, we would have to work to change it.
I say both are somewhat good ideas as long as Silver isn't allowed to edit or mess with either one.
Wiki, no shop. For whatever reason, I do not like the idea of a shop.
A wiki would work if we were to use it.. However the idea of members having the ability to make/edit pages on other members could cause some problems...
I don't think a shop would work though...

"Last time" being the changing of "Nintendo Power"'s title, right?
As I said originally:
Shop: Too gimmicky, and requiring shop cash for features would force those features to be unavailable without the shop cash. The only forum feature I can think of now that users would want that they can't already get is a screenname change and I think it's fine the way it is to require a mod's approval.
Wiki: Not really anything bad, but it would just get a burst of popularity then be forgotten.
I have no problem with either.

Yes, NP.
As for the Wiki, as long as a few users would be willing to keep it up, and users were to make a profile page, I can see it working.
On top of that, management and installation aren't extremely difficult. I think as long as we opt to use it, it could be a huge success. Obviously, though, some pages would need protection, etc. etc.

Yeah, it takes about 5 seconds for me to change your name, and 15 seconds for you to ask. We would make it open to users, but...things like that tend to get out of hand.

I'm on a lot, I would like to volunteer to keep it up if you guys do make it.
I wouldn't mind either of the two.
I like the idea of a Wiki, but not a Shop.
Wiki: It would be popular for a little bit, then nobody will care. Plus, I hate writing stuff about myself.
Shop: Well...it would make people have to post more to do things...
I would like to see a Wiki. I probably wouldn't contribute enough, but I would like to see one.
Shop...I could see a shop in NSFCD...
Wiki: Yes
Shop: Not really worth it as I see it.
A Wiki could be useful but the shop would be a bad idea.
I said it before and I'll say it again:
No to both. A wiki ends up abandoned and does relatively little to expand the site other than to document much of it's relatively unimportant history. People are excited and add to it for the first month or so, and then it ends up forgotten about like a child in a department store.
A shop is just flat out useless. Like Bluaki said, it places a price tag on things that are already free, and just serves no real purpose.
If we feel the need to add features, they should be useful and beneficial to the forum, not something that will just sit there and take up space.
If the users are actually willing to contribute, I can see the Wiki working. I don't claim to know much on other sites implementations of the feature, but I do know we have a lot to share that would be more relevant on a Wiki, as to the forum itself.

I've seen it fail on several sites. It's usually added, but after a month of extensive use and contributing, it tends to be forgotten about.
That's rather sad, but what leads you to believe this would be the case here?
Wiki, sure, why not.
Shops are useless gimmicks to get you to post.

Because I don't see our members as devoted to anything like this.
