Some bits of information worth sharing from Activision's recent conference call...
- Songs that appear in Guitar Hero see a 200-300% increase in the real-world retail scene
- Guitar Hero releases will triple by 2010, which includes retail and DLC scene
- Guitar Hero releases will be doubled in 2009
- More developers will come in to work on the Guitar Hero franchise
...
...
Are you kidding me? At this point, I think I'll only buy WT, consider other ones If the setlists are very good, and be done with the series. 3x a year? They're going to kill the whole GH/RB/Music genre at this rate with all this DLC/these discs. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised If we saw:
GH:Blink 182 - Coming out 2010
Discuss.
Yeah...they should really slow down while they're ahead instead of just screwing themselves over.
Let's see... three are coming out this year... so that makes six in 2009? Jesus NS, you're killing the series.
Blink 182 is one of maybe 4 bands that would convince me to buy GH if they had a version. >.>
Also, they kinda did this with DDR too. Just find a fun thing and overproduce it to death.
Oh god, they're giving it the Madden/Tony Hawk treatment, which is to pump out as many as possible, usually a new one every year with minor changes.
R.I.P. Guitar Hero. I knew thee well. :(

No, what DDR did was they kept making absolute gems for Sony consoles and arcades and gave the other systems crappy token games to say "oh we're impartial." It's different.

Madden only comes out once a year, as does Tony Hawk usually. Neversoft is talking 5 per year at this point, which is just too much.

Right around Extreme home version was when they were like EYETOY FAMILY FUN, and the setlists were still okay but they weirded the grading system, and especially in Extreme 2 and Supernova, went completely overkill on licensed songs.
I do not want to DDR to "Dance, Dance."
Serious overkill.
IT'S CALLED DLC, DUMBASSES

GH:24 - The Last songs on Earth
Play through the last songs never in a GH Game until now! After FCing these, It's the end of the road, so prepare for the last songs on earth!
COMING 2011.
ARE YOU READY?

They said they're going to multiply DLC To, and with there rate of killing RB In discs, they'll probably try and do that with DLC As well.
Now If RB And GH:WT Go at the same speed, at this rate, most requested songs will be on DLC, I mean, I can understand a bit of them wanting to move towards other's who haven't played GH, but GH:Aerosmith, decades, on tour, AND World tour this year? Now there's metallica floating around next year, obviously the next main series sequel, and rumors floating around about beatles, van halen, something about country/pop, and hendrix?
This is way to much.
Honestly,
let them make their games.
It won't ruin songs for me just because they're on Guitar Hero...
I still listen to Prayer of the Refugee and other songs, in fact Guitar Hero helps me find some songs I end up liking after I hear them too.
I don't see everyone's problem.
The sad thing is that I'd probably buy most of the games. I'm a sucker for Guitar Hero. :(

The fact that in 3 years, there will be OVER NINETHOUSAND Guitar Heroes out there. Rock Band has been out for a year, so I can see why they updated. But 6 a year for GH? That's just too much.

They're going to make them whether or not we say something about It. I mean, right now I see rock band trying to keep there more 'Hardcore' Audience with DLC While GH Is trying to get people more into metallica or the 70's than GH To buy a copy, and hopefully, get more fans (A bigger audience, as you say?) Into It, and of course, making a ton of DLC to compete with rock band.
Now, Is there anything to be angered about that? No, of course they'd do that as It's a smart business move, but they're making It more of something that has a fear of dying out, like the tony hawk games, and 6-8 or so per year? Eh...
On the bright side, this could induce GH Games for genre's we may end up liking. :x
Think about this...
If they made 6 new Zelda games a year, would you guys complain?
Probably not.
I consider myself a hardcore guitar hero fan, and i don't care how many they make, i'll still buy all of them.
The more the merrier.
Besides, as Thirdkoopa said, it's a smart business move...They have a huge audience and they're making millions if not billions off these games.
If I were them I'd make as many as possible to please the fans.
I mean, you can't really go wrong with Guitar Hero games...You don't really even need new features, just new songs really...and anyone will buy them.

Um, I actually would. I think 5 games of a series in one year is kinda too much. I'm all for more songs available, but I just don't want them to try out the series in a year or two.
