Title: Official NSF Homework Help Thread
Post by: Silverhawk79 on September 16, 2008, 06:59:57 PM
Since school is back in session, some of you might need help with your homework. So, here's a thread to let you ask questions and get some help with your tricky homework problems. Helpers will be available as well. These are people who are particularly proficient in a certain area, like math or science.

Rules:
1. Don't ask us to do your entire homework assignment. It's homeWORK, not home-let-someone-else-do-it. ...Yeah.
2. If you scan a page out of a textbook, put it in spoilers or resize it to a decent size.
3. NSF is not responsible if your answers that you got from this thread are so wrong that your teachers laugh at you.
4. Don't intentionally post a bunch of fake answers to problems that people have.

Helpers

Post your area of specialty to be added to this list.

Great idea, Silver, I like it. I'll gladly help some people :)

Oh, I'd like to help with Social Studies; namely Canadian and World History, if possible.

I can help out with middle school mathematics/algebra, along with some other stuff. But currently, I'm busy enough with my own homework as it is.

I can help out with World History or Geography.

Seeing as how I'm a year ahead in math, I think I could help people with Algebra I.

I can help with algebra. Too lazy to help with calculus. If you need help with calculus, then you should stop visiting forums and focus.

Well, I'm really good in U.S. history(Columbus-Desert Storm)and I never got a question wrong on a test in it, or Algebra/Gemoetry for that matter, but you already have too many math people, so I'll help with US history.

Also, question for Commisar: What star is going to be the new north star? The tail of Draco I think?

Memorize the squares. ie. instead of remembering that the square root of 196 is 14, remember 14 squared is 196. It makes it much easier for me.

Ok, here's some history questions.

Who was primarily responsible for the settling in what we call today "New Hampshire"

Who first successfully predicted an eclipse?

What was the first permanent European settlement?

When was the House of Burgesses established?

Who was the first European to touch mainland North America?

Last one: Who did England send to find the "North West Passage"?

Because it uses the reasoning that a number to the 0th power is always 1.  The problem here is that it doesn't make any sense that if you raise nothing to a power, you get something.  It's an extraneous root I suppose you could say.
