In celebration of what Terry Fox did for Canada, my school (and numerous others) do an 8 kilometer walk/run in appreciation. Sadly, my school makes it necessary to pass your Physical Education, and they also evaluate your time. I think it's ridiculous, but I'm curious to see what physical requirements you guys have to complete, just for a passing grade.
Also, my time of completion was 47 minutes, 23 seconds. Bah.
So, talk about Gym, and other demeaning things.
2 credits of P.E.
Wait, what? You were forced to do an 8 mile run/walk? That's kind of weird...longest I ever had to do was 1 mile, and I got 8:59. D:
We have to just try hard and stuff. We stopped doing physical fitness tests a while ago D:
Only American state that requires gym class is Illinois. Had to take it until I graduated from high school. Also, gym is hardly demeaning unless you have to swim. And you have to strip without changing booths. And you're attracted to the same sex.

Yes, your mark was based on your time. Needless to say, I didn't score incredibly well, but I did better than a large portion of the school.

Wow... Thats uh... Pretty awkward, yet funny at the same time D:
I don't have gym ^__^ I go walk 4 miles on the beach every day anyway, not like it would matter if I did take it. I would smoke all those fattys >:(

I don't think it is the issue of being fat, I think it is general laziness. Only 28% of the students apparently completed the run....in 90 minutes. I just checked the hand-out they gave us, and it says with a time of 40-50 minutes, I'd get an 80, however, my school rescaled it due to all the lazy asses, so, I guess I have a 90, now. A time under 40 minutes ( I think someone got 28 minutes) is a perfect score....
...ugh

Uh, New York does too.
Gym really isn't that hard for me (except for endurance running), it's just boring.
Gym was never a bother for me. The only thing I hated was that every Thursday we had to run a mile within a 15 minute limit. As long as you made it within 15 minutes, you passed. So my friend and I would always walk, never run, and sometimes sprint during the last few seconds if we were late. We were lazy bastards. x3
The only thing I intercourse ing hated was when the boys would be in the football field, which was in the center of the track. I never liked running in front of them.
How many miles are in 8 kilometers?
And the most I've done was a mile. And I jogged the entire time. I got 7 or 8 minutes. I wasn't feeling very good that day, though.

nope, we in NY also have mandatory P.E....unless you opt out as a senior if you played sports a lot. Which I did not.

1 P.E. Credit.
I'm not terribly athletic, but I can hold my own.
I was volunteering at the cross country meet the other day and someone from my school ran 3 miles in 17:29. D:

You only have to take gym for two years in high school here.
That is, unless you take a month-long gym course during the Summer going into your Freshman year and another one going into your Sophomore year.

That's how it is here, too.
God I was so happy when I became a junior. xD NO MORE GYM!
we only had mandatory gym in grade 10 up until this year. now it's mandatory through high school (a waste of time if you ask me. i love gym, but you could spend that time, you know, LEARNING).
funny thing is, there was a very low percentage of lardasses in our school.

I ran most of it, with only minor breaks for oxygen. Had I pushed without a break, I would have passed out. As I said, though, one kid ran the whole thing in 28 minutes, which is god darn impressive.
Gym? Find something better to complain about~
Unlike the majority of the internets I'm only 5 pounds overweight and I run like hell so Physical fitness anything was of little concern to me.

it sucked. >_>

Ahahaha public schools. I'm required to take P.E. once in my high school career, although I'll probably take it again next year. My teacher never even made us run a full mile, which we were technically supposed to do.

Not really.
I'm in Florida, and all through elementary and middle school, I had to take PE/Gym every year. In high school, I only had to take 1 year of it, though. Other high schools in my region require 1-3 years.
Sorry for you man but what the point of this thread a complaint thread not try to get in your case.
lol, only 8k and you're complaining?
My freshman year P.E. teacher, we had running every friday.
Classes were 52 minutes long, 5 minutes to change in and out.
We had a minimum of 16 laps around the track, half of them with bleachers each week (16 laps=4 miles). She would watch us run and do the bleachers to make sure we didn't cheat. I always ran it all, and always completed in time. This is in Arizona too <,<... the heat here is killer.

Oh, I suppose I forgot to mention the lovely, ice cold rain we have in here in Canadia :|
Let's see... I live in IL where you HAVE to take Gym to graduate unless you're in ROTC or band. At my school we need 3 credits of it, and this year, they took out most the fun, and put in more fitness. It's not that bad though since I'm athletic in the first place, but that doesn't mean I want to run 1.5 miles.
You have to take 3 credits in Texas to graduate, or Dallas, at least.
Let's see... Body Building was fun, as was Aerobics. I tested out of Health and the lest P.E. credit, but it would have been Self-Defense. At any rate, I don't really see the problem... I walk about 5 miles total each week day, with 30- 40 lbs of luggage with me.

Sorry, but we're still in triple digit weather. We're so stoked down here to finally be down to 99 degrees scheduled for... monday is it? I think so, and we'll finally be out of triple digit weather for the year.
Over summer, you're lucky if it's below 110 degrees here, hahaha. We don't have an excuse not to go outside either though like snow and whatnot, so it was every friday the same routine.

it snowed in alberta the other day... (i have a friend that just moved there).
its been windy and cold the last few days here in manitoba... i wouldn't be surprised to see our first snow in the next couple of weeks...
daaaaamn, I knew canada was cold, but I didn't know it was cold already lol
well, did you know that arizona was still in triple digits? lolxP
I run 6 miles 5 times a week and it only takes away 1 hour of my day :D YAY!!!
Here's my complaint~
The girls and the Volleyball coaches at my school decided that they need both of the gyms every Tuesday and Thursday, so my Athletics (Basketball) class has to do Weight Room and exercises outside those days. Seeing as I have an embarrsingly low amount of arm strength (I can bench like, 20 pounds >_>) I stick to the leg exercises, while the other kids do bench and incline I'm doing squats and leg presses, after weight room we go outside and do jumps, hops, high-knees, shuffling and backpedaling, and other similar exercises, and we also just plain run...
yeah, my legs hurt too.

lol I got about 7:30 on the mile last year. :B
EDIT: Also, Health is needed for graduation here, in IL, for my school at least, so I get a semester of that before PE.
yeah, i have very limited arm strength, but my leg strength is enormous lol
but not for running.

I'm still going to laugh at you for having piteously weak arm strength. There's no way to build it up to something semi-respectable for your size if you're not going to work it.

I haven't went jogging in about a week and a half now Oo... but I did climb a mountain yesterday. Yes, climb hahaha, there is no path. You just have to romp your way up through igneous boulders and whatnot. It's a fun one to climb.
Basketball practice twice a week.
