Title: What do You want in Wii menu 3.4?
Post by: WiiGuy on October 01, 2008, 04:59:16 AM
well, from the pattern that the new wii menu versions have come out, we're in for another one soon....
so, what do you think we should be expecting?

I would like to see:
Be able to send pictures to Computer E-mail, not just Wii.
a updated Forcast channel?

what do You want?

I'd like to see, but am not expecting:
*No homebrew blockage. Support towards homebrew would be ideal but there's like no chance of that.
*Ability to control the Wii Menu with the Gamecube controller, much like the Classic Controller
*Ability to boot channels from SD card and ability to copy ANY files to the SD card, including uncopyable games like Brawl.
*Update to forecast so that the info you get isn't like six hours old.
*Update to photo so that it can play some actually common video and audio file types
*Support for downloadable game patches (not pay&play) that are stored on either internal or SD storage. I'd like a Pokemon Battle Revolution patch to support the Platinum Pokemon forms, for example.
*Ability to configure IR sensitivity on the HOME menu, and to allow seperate Wiimotes to have a seperate settings for the IR sensitivity (I've had it happen where I'm pretty close to the TV and my friend plays from across the room, or vice-versa, and IR always screws up for at least one of us). Sensor bar position (above/below) would also be useful on HOME menu.
*Ability to use Classic Controller for Gamecube games with configurable button mapping. I'd like to see DS be useable as a GBA for Gamecube games too, since cords are a hassle when playing something like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. (at both of these, I can keep dreaming, as they won't happen)

Pretty much that.
But a few other things:
-Be able to take snapshots of any game by pressing the home button and click snap.like in smg when mario flys out of that exploding space capsual I whish I could press home and click  snap to save it.

-Be able to use your pics as backgrounds.

-be able to choose your curser

Yeah, seriously. I don't like having to take out the sensor bar and connecting/finding the Wiimote to play a gamecube game on the Wii, just because IR is necessary to select the disk channel.
This is really something that surprised me when I found out it didn't work after I found that the Classic Controller does indeed work for this purpose. The fact that you can't see the Gamecube game's name also surprised me, since you can see Wii game names and the Gamecube's menu can show the game names.

I made a thread a while ago of possible Wii Menu updates, and included something about taking screenshots I believe. Gameplay videos too. And an update to the Message Board/Photo Channel to save all pictures as a seperate save file instead of bundling it with the Message Board's data.
What would pics be used as backgrounds of? The Wii Menu?
If you mean making a cursor and using it, that's really not user-friendly enough for them to implement, but having a number of selectable cursors on the Wii Menu would be nice. Though if they implement cursors I'd like menu themes/skins as well.

I ment thatthere would be a number of selectable cursors.
I also ment that there could be skins for the background and you could use pics as the background, meaning that you would see all of the things on the wii menu but the pic would be bhind them.
