Title: Gimp 2.6
Post by: HTA! on October 05, 2008, 01:55:43 PM
Who here uses this program?
I just got Gimp again after my comp was wiped, and I'm very pleased with it since my last version was 2.4 -_-
(New sigs on the way. :P)

Its got more tools and changing things like colors and fonts is so much easier and less annoying than before.

I attempted to use Photoshop CS3 the other day, and did okay, but PS makes things look wayyyy more complicated than they are.
For example, why does it not tell me what tool I'm about to click when I put my mouse over it? Confused me for like 20 minutes. D:
The layer system is also more annoying than Gimp's, but that's avoidable.

Overall I would much rather have the school load Gimp to every computer, instead of wasting money on PS that only 3 or 4 kids even know how to use...
Of course, we need to go through Adobe to get our CAD programs so I bet they get PS in the pack...

Maybe I'll make a gallery of my sigs and other works eventually... although I think all my old work besides my photobucket account was destroyed in the wipe.

I could have sworn I saw some more filters (In alpha to logo and so forth) but I also count the automatic adjustment box according to what tool your using a new tool.
Used to be you had to double click, which was a pain. D:

Photoshop is more complicated on the simpler things, but once you get into more complicated things, it is much better. Plus it gives better results IMO.

I get it for free because my dad's a graphic designer.

This works for me on CS3, don't know what's wrong with the one you used.

Download the 30 day trial from the website. You can use that for 30 days or download a keygen and keep it forever.

I used to use GIMP, now I don't use anything.

But I liked the text system in Gimp 2.4 more than in 2.6.  The Filter>Freetext worked much better, you could do a lot more with the font that way, but they got rid of it in 2.6 =[

All of my sigs are made in gimp.  I think I'll put my Elfen Lied sig on now.
