Title: I've been wondering
Post by: ThePowerOfOne on October 19, 2008, 12:07:49 PM
Why do most of you like Japan so much? I've been wondering this for a while now. Is it because of the technology? Video games?

I have always loved Japan even before I started playing video games. I love it for the culture, the amazing food (Asian food is my second favorite, next to Mexican food :-*), beautiful places and buildings, and Japanese art styles. I also love it for Tokyo, one of the most awesome, loud, and fun places on Earth ;D   Sure there may be thousands of people everywhere who aren't the nicest... But its great. The clothes are freaking awesome, so cartoony, weird, and fun. Its just an all around fun, awesome place for me. I'm also fond of Thailand, not as crouded and loud, but still great.

So why do most of you like Japan? I MUST KNOW! D:

TV shows like Trick, Kamen Rider, and GARO makes Japan awesome.
Japan's live action shows are much better than anime.

And they have some good musicians.

But why? All of you say that, yet most of you haven't even been there. You don't know what the people are like, the places, the food. You may have read about it or something, but you don't know what its really like. Japan just never seemed like the kind of place any of you would like. I mean, its so loud and fun, and most of you are, uh... Kinda boring :-X

Japan is ok, but yeah, I don't know why people here are so obsessed with it.

I'm neutral. I hate the "japanophile" culture, and some of the anime, but some of the food's good.

They are not afraid to go all out with anything, no matter how silly it might be

Cuteness is a big part of the culture

The traditional culture is extremely rich and interesting

The traditional spirtualism is also intriguing

Their media is unparalleled (let's just leave it at that)

They seem to be at the forefront of human interaction and ingenuity

Akihabara

Mt. Fuji is very picturesque

Their language is eloquent and beautiful to listen to and read

Their language is also fun to say and fun to write

Traditional Japanese dress is beautiful

Absolutely great music, even their popular music is good

Japan is just one of many places I find interesting.  Personally I'd take going to Europe over Japan any day.

It's a pretty good country, but there are lots more I would want to see/experience first.

You have to be the only person on here who actually knows about Japan and its culture, not just video games and anime.

I see the Japanese the same way I see the Native Americans: the only way to make them civilized is to remove them of all foreign culture as quickly as possible. We have made much progress with the Native Americans, as a new strip mall is being constructed in the lower part of New Mexico. As for the Japanese, though, we haven't done much to Americanize them as much as we should. Many would say the bombs we dropped did a decent job of clearing the slate, but I don't believe that is enough. We have to completely remove them from the Pacific Ocean, away from all the other dirty cultures, and back to where they belong.

This will take much effort to accomplish, but with God's help we can cure this terrible affliction.
