Title: Our Little Wii Is Growing Up
Post by: Macawmoses on October 30, 2008, 04:54:56 PM
It's true, our beloved little guy is finally a...uh.....man?

We all know that the Wii is largely aimed at non-gamers and the Casual gamers. Titles like the Wii Series go on to prove it, while some other titles, like SMG and Animal Crossing appeal to both hardcore and the casual (and less).

However, those that are after a more mature title, be it a war game, violent, or whatever, has to search elsewhere. Gears of War, Metal Gear, the properties that we all know of, don't come our way, the way of Wii-Owners.

Now, though, with Sega driving the market, among others, we're starting to see some more games aimed at those interested in shooters, and the like.

No More Heroes was the first truly M game for us, while Metroid Prime 3 and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 could appeal to those that were after a shooter.

Luckily, though, No More Heroes 2 was announced, along with The Conduit, MadWorld, and some other titles are coming, the best part, Wii Exclusive.

We also have titles such as Red Steel 2, House of the Dead: Overkill, and a number of other T or higher rated titles to look forward to.

Oh, and this lovely quote:

Quote from: Nintendo Spokesman on MadWorldWii appeals to a wide range of audiences from children and teenagers to adult and senior citizens, anyone from 5 - 95, as such there is a wide range of content for all ages and tastes available.

'Mad World will be suitably age rated through the appropriate legal channels and thus only available to an audience above the age rating it is given

The game is not made by Nintendo but by Sega.

So, could Nintendo finally realize that Wii owners want more than casual fodder? And are third parties going to see the Wii as viable for more than just movie games, and My Little Pony? Let's hope so.

Also, do you have any interest in any of the titles mentioned, which could effectively (as a group) change the view of the Wii?

I think it all depends if the Conduit works out. First person shooter with online capabilities (wait...does it use WiiSpeak?) that's actually getting some attention? About intercourse in time.
Please, Nintendo is only allowing Mad World and No More Heroes 2 on their system because if they don't SEGA and Suda51 would take their business elsewhere and that would really send Nintendo up the river.
Interested in those games yea but we need more. The crap still far outweighs the good stuff on this system...

Oh, and just recently, the Wii passed lifetime sales of the N64 and is expected to overtake the SNES and possibly the NES by the time a new system comes out.

At the rate it's going it'll pass the PS2 in about six or seven years.
But we all know that isn't going to happen. Nintendo will either come out with a new console (cuz the tech on this thing is absolute crap) or it'll hit some sort of wall cuz of the shovelware crap (but only if that continues...)

Definitely interested in The Conduit, MadWorld, and No More Heroes 2. I hope they all turn out to be good games, and not merely adequate.

I'm not much of a shooter fan. Metroid, that's about it for me. And online, everyone's too good. Or I just suck. :(
Either way, I hate losing. :P

I think we need some new franchise games, like Star Fox, and F-Zero.

Lol, I 100% agree with Nayrman.....except I'm more "Nicer" about it then he is.
I'll just mince words and try to be "polite".

*coughs*

But yeah, Last Gen graphics, Shovel ware crap, Un interesting games directed towards old people.
Nintendo getting beat by the other systems... Blah!

Actully most of the games that were mentioned interest me. The Conduit surprized me because I dont really like FPS its not that Im bad at them I just dont enjoy them so I was surprized when I found myself interested in it. And Madworld just looks ****ing hilarious (in a sick sort of way)
