Title: EA: A Sinking Ship?
Post by: Macawmoses on November 09, 2008, 03:12:01 PM
After reading an article  [this] (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=285807&page=1) that addresses some of the chagrin of EA, and the global markets, it started to make me think.

Obviously, video game companies are effected by recessions, but, what is the root of this? A big thing stated for EA was their lack of original IP's, among other things.

The other issue is competition against the likes of Ubi, Activision, and Sega, all taking a chunk of their dough, and that's to be expected with great series in each of their line-ups.

So, what do you think EA will have to do to make itself stand out from the crowd?

Make good games, it's that simple.

Like movies, games are recession-proof, even if there are drops in purchases.

Like Nintendo and SEGA in the 90's, they got too fat for their own good and didn't realize that change was happening.
EA needs to learn Madden and the same-old same-old won't keep people coming back. Hopefully a successful Mirror's Edge will help them see otherwise.

It's not that simple; Bioware makes good games, but they take huge dives.

It kept people coming back for almost twenty years, so they think it will never change.
