Title: Horrible TV Shows
Post by: Linkman on November 20, 2008, 06:28:41 PM
Everyone has to have at least one TV show they hate for some sorta reason.

I hate quite a few, mainly because they're unfunny and just shouldn't be on TV in the first place and some times they even put said horrible shows on the air in place of a good show.

I personally despise Family Guy and all the other shows Seth McFarlane makes because well... they're unfunny.

So anyway discuss shows you dislike.

Anything on Cartoon Network anymore. :(
Family Guy, American Dad, all of it.

Horrendous pieces of televised filth.

I also cannot stand MTV in general.

all of Cartoon network. (In recent years.)
Most Anime (Especially the dark and sinister ones like death note)
Family guy
American Dad
Most teletoon Shows ( teletoon is canadian btw,)
and most recent Disney shows. (Go back to making cartoons darnit. )

Most newer American game shows, sitcoms (except for a select few including HIMYM), and crappy cartoons, again, with a veeery select few.  I also hate the mainstream ninja-type anime that is more popular dubbed than subbed, like Naruto and Avatar (blah, can you even call that an anime?) and even Bleach and Death Note.

The only television shows I don't hate are...

The Daily Show
Colbert Report
David Letterman
House
24
Simpsons
Mythbusters

Everything else is a sack load of poop, although I do watch it when there's nothing else on. My mind runs on empty sometimes...

I HATE Mythbusters, that show is so darn stupid! They are just dorks, and one of them looks like a walrus >_>  I don't know, something about that show just makes me want to rip my hair out.

Watch it, I plan on growing a handle bar moustache when I bald.

I like the show. I find there actually pretty funny at times, and I'm interested in the myths (shocker!)

Also, I would tap Carrie.

Most things on tv today are just stupid and pointless.
The only show I watch regularly is House and sometimes CSI
The rest are just stupid. Just about every popular show nowadays is overrated beyond beliefe (I'm looking at YOU Heroes and your cheesy unorigional storyline that makes Batman's inner conflicts look like the Bible, Shakespeare, and Jefferson all rolled into one)

Anything on the Disney Channel or Cartoon Network.
FOX, in general.

I don't mind bad TV, as long as The Soup makes fun of it.

At least quality still remains with anime.

all of the stupid CBC poop that they claim is "canada's number one hit comedy!"  and such poop.

let me get back to watching Lost, House, and The Office.

Heroes is a guilty pleasure for me.  I know it's a piece of poop show, but I watch it anyways. :\

Hey, I would rather see complete CGI rather than an attempt to blend drawn characters animated with CGI.

Flapjack isn't a rip-off of Spongebob, it's a ripoff of Chowder, which was a rip-off of Spongebob.

CGI needs to die altogether. It's fine for special effects or specific CGI movies (in which there are TOO MANY these days *glares at Dreamworks and Pixar*), but it has no place in tv.
Also, you can blame idiot America's views on animation for the lack of quality in todays "cartoons" (meaning most average americans think: "DUR CAHTOONS AH FOH DA KIDZ AYND DEY MUS BE LIEK REETAHRDEEEED!")

I'm not sure when the downturn of kids cartoons started exactly, but I think by the mid 90's show creators were getting lazy, and they stopped trying when they realized they didn't HAVE to make a good cartoon to get viewers.

CGI and computer animation basically saved cartoons all together. I mean, Disney made what in the 80's, Black Cauldron? Also the last 100% hand drawn and animated feature film, so that should say something. The whole form of entertainment would be dead if it wasn't for computers because computers opened up so many possibilities. Something that would take four or five years to make by hand would take a year and a half to make with CGI.

It all depends on the amount of effort put in, but since less effort seems to be put into CGI cartoons than normal ones, that's why a majority of people dislike them. Networks LOVE CGI because they can have five or six shows in production at the same time rather than just one or two.

There's a few. Lilo and Stitch, Treasure Planet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Titan A.E., The Iron Giant, The Road to El Dorado. But most flopped at the box office because people were so fascinated at the concept of CGI.

Not enough... I saw (although I will say Atlantis and Titan were pretty bad).
I wanna know why Treasure Planet and Iron Giant bombed...both were really good (you have to watch Treasure Planet a few times to really appreciate it). Again, annoying simpletons (well, we do live in america X_X )

Atlantis, believe it or not, was kind of like Disney saying "Okay, if this flops, we can officially stop making hand drawn animation." It was the last chance Disney gave for hand drawn animation at the box office.

Well who's there to challenge them? No one ever tries!
Also, I'm getting tired of Pixar. Maybe they should *gasp* take a risk and actually try to do something that isn't so darn kiddy?

Wall-E had a pretty deep message for a kid's movie, but seeing them make a non-kids movie would be pretty amazing. What would it POSSIBLY be about and how would they manage to pull of a movie meant for an older audience?

well they're owned by Disney so we know that's never going to happen, ever.
Again, it's stupid stereotyping that all animation must be for kids and be sickeningly cute/child friendly the vast majority of the time. Hell, even more mainstreamed stuff is pretty kiddy. Simpsons and Family Guy are pretty tame overall. Only South Park and some Adult Swim stuff tries otherwise.
I decree that Ghost in the Shell, Blood the Last Vampire, and Samurai X be shown in all theaters for a year to destroy the ignorance!!!!! * (^_^) *

What happened to the Disney Channel? Even five or six years ago they were decent because they aired shows like The Weekenders, Pepper Ann, One Saturday Morning, and House of Mouse, plus they still aired the Aladdin TV series.

Now it's all Hannah Montana and the Cheetah Girls.

Oh, and the Cartoon Network still airs live-action shows.  :|

I know with CN, I was like WTF!? First it was Osmosis Jones and I was like, okay fair enough. It's a mix cartoon and live-action. It's kind of freaky but oh well. I never watched Disney Channel after I turned about six or seven.
All I can say is I miss the Rising Sun morning block for anime... X_X;;
Now the only thing put on tv that isnt late night is 4kids crap.

The TV series of Osmosis Jones was actually completely animated, but I have NO idea how they stretched it out for two seasons, especially since the movie was a box office flop. I mean, when they don't merchandise things from a KID'S movie, you know it did bad.

While most of Cartoon Network's shows are terrible (flapjack's animation is sickening enough, much less the actual content), I am pretty interested in the new Star Wars Clone Wars series.  I mean, the "movie" sucked, but the actual show shows promise, as there have been some good episodes (the one that was just about the clone troopers was 5x better than the Attack of the Clones movie).  Anyway, I don't really watch TV that much anymore since most good shows ended, but the shows I do like (that aren't all reruns) besides Star Wars include Monk (next season is the last one :( ) and Psych.

Oh, and I just wanted to mention something about the cartoons-are-for-little-kids stereotyping.  I went to Hollywood Video the other day to rent a movie, and when I walked past the Kids section, you'll never guess what I saw:  GOTHAM KNIGHT.  That crosses whatever line still exists; I mean, when they put a PG-13 anime that has just as much violence and more blood than it's PG-13 live-action counterparts in the KIDS section, you know these people are idiots.

Tuppy, Chowder is kinda good though, I honestly don't think it's a ripoff of Spongebob.

CSI, House, and The Colbert Report is where its at.

I don't hate it, but that, Naruto, and Bleach basically represent for me the "mainstream" anime that is so insanely popular that people watch them and regard themselves as anime enthusiasts, when in reality they are ignoring much better anime and usually don't even want to touch the other stuff.

All non-filler stuff makes a decent amount of sense provided you understood what happened beforehand. At least unlike Naruto their reason for fighting is actually decent X_X;;
