Title: 7-Eleven To Sell Games, Break Street Dates Year Round
Post by: Silverhawk79 on November 20, 2008, 10:19:09 PM
QuoteGetting the biggest games days before street date is about to get a whole lot easier thanks to 7-Eleven. The convenience store chain is expanding its video game offerings beyond what it currently carries, typically guaranteed blockbusters like Gears of War 2, Fallout 3 and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King or games tied to Slurpee promos like Halo 3.

Michael Jester, 7-Eleven category manager for gaming and electronics said in a statement “This is not just a holiday promotion for us, but a brand new product line-up that will be available year-round."

In addition to seeking to become the "most convenient destination" for the hottest video game titles, 7-Eleven will be ramping up the number of pre-paid gaming cards it carries. That includes MMOs like Guild Wars and City of Heroes, as well as pre-paid cards for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Oh, we'll definitely come again if this work out.

What are your thoughts on this? I think it's much more convenient, depending on which games they have. I'll probably get Wii Points cards from there, because it's less than a mile from my house.

I like the lack of attention for the Wii, the only title they will have for it being Guitar Hero.

Selling video games at a convinent store is one of the stupidest ideas, people rob the stores for little crap like cigarretes and less than 50$ because they never have more than that. why would they put video games in there? i agree with LiveOnTheEdge.

"Gimme a Slurpee, a pack of smokes, Guitar Hero: World Tour for 360, and the money in your till, or you're dead!"

No, I just can't see it.

That crap happens all the time, the kwik fill near where i live has a sign on the door that asks to 'please remove your hoods before entering', people would definetely rob it more

What the stores near me do is display signs saying "EMPLOYEES CANNOT ACCESS SAFE/REGISTER" and "REGISTER CONTAINS LESS THAN $50".

Yeah, they might need to adopt extra security for that.

no Wii, no me, and like Mutilator7 said it will end badly, no matter how many signs they have up people will still rob the place

I don't care. I have 3 Gamestops around my house, plus Toys R Us.
