Man enough to help me with this Algebra homework? :P
OK, heres how it goes:
13. John and Will leave their home traveling in opposite directions on a straight road. John drives 20 mph haster than William. After 4 hours, they are 250 miles apart.
a. Define a variable f or John's rate. Write an expression for William's rate.
b. Write and solve an equation to find John's rate. Then find William's rate.
OK, i made a little chart thingy and tried the problem, but I don't think I did it right. Heres what I did:
4r + 4(r + 20) = 250
8r + 80 = 250 Distrubuted.
8r = 170 Subtracted 80 from both sides.
r = 21 & 1/4 Divide 8 by both sides.
Is this right???
i don't have an effin clue
*brain short-circuts and mouth drops open*
sorry, i suck at algebra. i hate it i hate it i hate it.
4r + 4(r + 20) = 250
4r + 4r + 80 = 250
8r + 80 = 250
- 80 - 80
8r = 170
r = 2 1/4
What are you, in seventh grade?
