Interesting article, highlighting some of the video game adaptations being made. They're missing Professor Layton, which saddens me, but it's a decent article.
Now, my opinion.
Titles to flop:
-Spyro
-Area 51
-Kane and Lynch
-Splinter Cell
-Mortal Kombat
Titles to do decent/well/good/great:
-Halo (tons of fans)
-WoW (yeah...)
-Metal Gear Solid
-Earthworm Jim
-Castlevania
I think in order to do well, you need a legendary series with tons of fans, and big bucks. That's why 4 of my success ones are extremely popular with current gen gamers, Jim is just plain awesome.
Spyro will fail miserably. Mortal Kombat movies are lame. Etc.
And of course, there is the want for other series to make it on film; say, Metroid, or Resistance.
Thoughts on movies to games?
More modern games are more easiliy adaptable into games
Let's face it, old movies from the 80's on games had almost no story, because the games themselves didn't have any. Super Mario Bros.'s story is essentially two or three sentences long. Halo will make a good movie provided it doesn't become a complete fan fest. Earthworm Jim is going to be awesome! Also, MGS was a movie to begin with, they just decided to make it playable XD
