Call of Duty World at War (4.5) is an interesting title. In terms of the PS3 and 360, it sold 2 millionish copies.
Compare that to the DS, PS2, Wii, and PC totaling 200, 000. Four systems losing to two.
Part of it, in my eyes, is that the demographic for Wii and DS are so casual that the hardcore gamer picked it up on the other consoles. Swell.
As for the PS2, stale system. Ok. PC though? Wow. The series started there, and CoD 4 did well. So why the bad sales?
To me, it's the fact that Call of Duty is...stale. It's been the same song and dance for ages now...there is no huge Activision plot twist. No new elements. Same old same old.
CoD got stale after the second, in my eyes. I think the success of CoD 4 came because it took the series in a new direction, not back to its overabused and raped roots.
I still like the titles, none of them are dreadful, and some are instant hits. However, I can't see CoD being sustainable without a revolutionary change on Activisions part.
So what are your thoughts on CoD in general?
4 was really good, probably the best.
5... It just seemed like a step back. It wasn't TERRIBLE, it just didn't live up to 4.
4 was easily the best. I didn't play 5... I've shot enough WW2 enemies thank you.
Ultimate irony? Series like Medal of Honor and the like have been around longer than the war itself X_X;;
Oh, Wii owners don't buy hardcore games, that much we already know. Also, there is ZERO incentive to buy the Wii version, of well, anything. Zilch. There are no redeeming qualities of Wii versions of anything. PS3/360 versions have better graphics, better sound, better gameplay (most of the time) and a VASTLY superior online system. The Wii is only good for Nintendo products and mini-game compilations...

Normally, I would disagree with you on that second point, but World at War bombed on the Wii and DS, but did well on other platforms.
Call of duty 6, is "Modern Warfare 2", I think...
for some reason, I like cod 5 more than 4.
Maybe because of a certain sniper mission that mimmicks a movie, and Nazi Zombies
Trust me, people have bought the game probably for the zombies...:P
Zombies don't interest me, WaW is just lackluster compared to CoD 4.
it's really fun though.
cod 4 is over-rated.
CoD4 isn't over-rated.
However, WaW isn't that bad.
Story wise, it wasn't as good.
However, game play is on par, and the new weapons were fresh and fun to use.
I can't stand Call of Duty 3. Call of Duty 2 is still my favorite, 4 was pretty great, and as for World at War, I played the Beta and from what I've played it was pretty good. Reminded me of 2 but that's probably because its another World War II game.

i quote this in the name of pwn. also, they should make another Modern-style COD game. heck, that bonus level in COD4 was killer
(the one after you beat the game. its the level that youre in a Airplane and you have to rescue a VIP)

That's what CoD 6 is I believe.
A sequel to 4
There's nothing special about it at all. It's like every other FPS I've ever played.

This is why NSF sucks so much.

4 isn't really that overrated. The truth is it's a great fun game with great online. I can't wait for Modern Warfare 2.
The only reason why Treyarch is doing well with WaW is because they bounced off of 4's everything. WaW's online on the other hand is not nearly as good though. The majority of the maps suck. Tanks are one of those ideas that seemed like a good idea, but in the end are unneeded and are one-sided in an average match.
Also the power of the guns are HEAVILY skewed in WaW.
The Springfield '03, M1 Garand, and BAR all shoot the .30-06 round, but they made the Springfield have more power just because it was used as a sniper rifle in WWII. The M1 Garand seems like it was watered down to reduce "You're biased and you made the American guns better" complaint. And the BAR is the same.
does it really intercourse ing matter?
Both are good games!

Considering this topic is about what you think about the games I think it might matter. = P
