Title: Four more months, everybody.
Post by: Tupin on January 26, 2009, 07:55:47 PM
Senate approved a delay in switching all television broadcasts to digital until June rather than February. This allows another four months for people and stations to get ready.

Who seriously isn't ready by now? It's been on TV for the past year. Even the most technologically-inept people I know already have done something.

Are you ready? I know my house is.

We've had cable since I was five, so we've been ready.
I dont' see any reason not to switch when they said they were going to.

"Customer of Cablevision? Don't worry, we got you covered."

I sure as hell hope so.

My grandparents probably have no idea.  They have an antennae for the upstairs TV.  That was fun to play with the one time I did a few months ago.

Fuck your grandparents; they should be dead by now anyways.  If people are not ready is because they don't care about it much, but wait until their tv stops working, and then they will care.

I think so, and Australia soon afterwards.

They also are the country that is completely phasing out incandescent bulbs by 2010. Could you imagine that happening in North America?  :D

The TV in our break room at work still goes off analog.  Oh well.  It only ever has poop on anyways.

Very poor people who can't pay for a box and people who were not aware that they were free for a time still have analog.  I heard of a study that showed that most of the people who actually needed to hear about the switch and what they have to do either never got the message or didn't take any action.

...If you aren't ready, you're an idiot. They've been advertising the crap out of it. Either that or just man up and buy some basic cable for $30 a month or whatever.

Oh yeah, we're ready.

I heard that the switch is going to make some channels move to different channels. You'll still get them, but they'll be on a different channel... if it's true.

Everybody should have done something by now. Even my grandma has cable, plus she's had it for years.

We have DirecTv, which has been digital for as darn long as I can remember.  No need to worry.

Besides, the fund that gives out the coupons has run dry recently, so the poorer people who can't easily get ones can't afford it.

So, that's why it has been delayed.
