Title: Steelers- Super Bowl XLIII Champions
Post by: HTA! on January 31, 2009, 09:33:55 AM
Love it or hate it, the Super Bowl is tomorrow.
So, here's a thread for you to place your bets and find news about the big game.
I'm making a synopsis of the match-up tomorrow, but I will say that the game will end Pittsburgh- 28 Cardinals-21
One touchdown and a PAT will decide the game, but what do you think?

Go Cardinals!
Also, my prediction: 31-27 Cards.

Anquan Boldin will have at least one touchdown because the Steelers will focus on Fitz too much.

Hopefully the Cardinals win. I think they could.

3 Cards
1 Steelers

Booooo

Anyway, I'm sure the defense isn't going to completely let Bolden run free.
Even if they double up on Fitzgerald (Which they might not need to do in the first place if Warner gets pressured) I'm sure the safeties can pick him up without a hitch. Clark and Polomalu aren't pushovers.

Super Bowl is going to suck this year so I am not going to watch it, and whoever watches it is a faggot.

As much as I'd love to cheer on Cogs' and Co.'s team, out of all the NFL teams, I've always watched Pittsburg.

The Steelers are simply fantastic. So, I'm not only hoping they win, I've got bets on it. Cheering for the underdog is nice, but in a game life football, there is a reason you're the underdog.

I can't wait till the super bowl but I hate how this entire week all they showed on sportscenter was crap about the super bowl. I mean eventually they were just saying the same old stuff over and over again.

Steelers 24
Cardinals 17

Fitzgerald will be limited with the Steeler's defense, and with him gone that severly limits Warner's options for big plays.

You're right.

Root for the not-Steelers. I actually am a Cardinals fan. (Way after the Jets, though.)

I gotta go for the Cards. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I did a report on Kurt Warner this past year. Maybe I just like rooting for the underdog. However, no bets from me. There's a reason why they're the "underdog", and I respect that. 27-26 Cards.

Foot Ball is boring to watch, but it's pretty fun to play. Or, it's fun depending on who you're playing with...

Nail bitter that's for sure.
Best Super bowl I've seen in years, 4th quarter heard many a curse in my household. And so did the NS2 Super Bowl Thread (What the hell Silver, break the internet?)

Anyway, fantastic game and one of the most amazing catches of the year by Holmes. Not to mention Harrison's 100 yd return.
Sure the defense fell apart in the 4rt quarter, but they were on the field the majority of the 2nd half, they still played well regardless.

Tack on another win, 27-23 Steelers.

Ok. The cards didn't want it. They lost due to thier lack of skill (At least in the first half) and abundance of critical penalties. IT'S THE SUPER BOWL! PLAY BETTER!

I don't know. That last play with Warner didn't look like a fumble. It looked more like a pass to me.
Just think if they called that an incomplete pass, the Cardinals could have won it...

I'm surprised Cardinals did as well as they did. Steelers defense wasn't at there best, but their offense was pretty good. Cardinals defense overall is poop, if it wasn't for their offense they wouldn't have made in my opinion.

Good jobs Steelers, you made me $200 richer.

I was a touchdown away from calling the score. There were a few stupid penalties called in the game, but whatever.

Anyway, Fitzgerald made a great catch for his first touchdown of the game, too.

more like the coverage was terrible, but he's one hell of a reciever.

I was slightly off, but my point spread was correct.
There were dumb penalties on both sides, but the refs seem to be leaning towards the steelers.
Although I think the Pitts would've won anyway. They had momentum the entire game save that six or seven minute span in the fourth.

Rothlesberger is IMO the most reliable QB in the NFL now.

Fitz's TD was not because Taylor wasn't covering him.
He is basically the best Wide Out in the game, and I'm surprised he was held so well throughout the game.

Everyone says that the refs were against the Cardinals, but you cannot say you would rather blatant holding (which is what kept Harrison from getting a sack) not be called.

And later in the game, Cards got a safety on a holding call, and won 2 challenges.
Anyone who says the calling was biased needs to wake up. D: (And if you think about it, the Ref's already overturned a similar fumble play earlier in the game. This time there was even less evidence, I think it was the right call.)

Pitt's defense is amazing, but in the second half they were on the field waaay more than the 1st half. Players get tired, and after they had given up so much on the flat and short throws across the middle I can understand why they played the safeties closer to the line then they had been. They held Fitz as long as they could, but you have to assess the other receivers eventually and that's what left them open.

Final thoughts though, best drive in Ben's career was the last 2 minutes of that game.
