Title: Phantom Hourglass help

Well, I got the game yesterday and have been playing it for quite some time now.
I'm at the part where I have to go to Northwestern sea but can't because of the fog.
I've got the shovel, but now I'm stuck.
I went to Astrid and all she told me to do was "follow the footsteps".
Any help please?

Did you go to that other island that you need the ship cannon for?
