Title: Playable Pokémon in Smash.
Post by: Doodle on February 28, 2009, 04:32:31 PM
What Pokémon would you want to see playable in Smash? Would it work?
I think Blaziken would be a cool choice. He has a nice set of moves that could go with Smash. That uppercut move(I don't remember the name. Haven't played D/P in a while, since I lost it. :() could be an Up-B.
Blaze kick could maybe be similar to C. Falcon and Ganondorf's down-b.
There's tons of moves that could work with Blaziken.
Also, Mewtwo needs to come back. :(

In a perfect world, Rayquaza and Shaymin in Sky Form would be playable.

Since they would both be really overpowered, they wouldn't happen.  I say that Sceptile would make a reasonable choice.  It's normal B move would be bullet seed, expect unlike unlike Ivysaur's Bullet Seed, it shoots horizontally and explodes.  Side B would be Leaf Blade; basically a green blade that slashes in the direction the move is executed.  Up B could be seismic toss; Sceptile would grab the nearest opponent and run into the air, slamming the opponent down with itself.  In mid-air, Sceptile would just jump.  Down B would be Earthquake, but it would only hurt opponents on the floor near Scpetile.  It's Final Smash would be Leaf Storm; a bunch of oversized and sharp blades of leaves fly out of Sceptile's body and homes on all of the opponents.  Sceptile's A attacks would be a combination of clawing, headbutts, and tail swipes.

I think that Blaziken should come too.

Moves I think that should work:

Up B: Double Kick. Sends him a little bit higher like Yoshi's Up B. Blaziken does 2 kicks in the air.

B: Flamethrower like Bowser and Charizard (I know another Flamethrower user).

Down B: Mirror Move. Works just like Marth and Ike's counter, but Blaziken gets hit and reacts with the same attack.

Side B: Slash. Like Bowser does, only not taking the opponent with him.

Final Smash: Fire Blast. Does a Fire Blast as big as Isaac's hand move in Brawl.

Blaziken would be a good choice, and if it weren't for Lucario in the 4th gen, he probably would've gotten the nod for Brawl.

I DEMAND UMBREON! (he's my favorite). Not to mention he learns a ton of non-dark TM's in the game, and can actually fit the all-around type that is sorely lacking in this game (only Mario and Luigi really fit that).

Roserade would be an interesting addition.

And yet, Mario's Bottom/Low tier.

Luigi is decently high, also that stems from Metaknight and Snake being HORRIBLY UNBALANCED

I say we need an IC-style duo of Espeon and Umbreon.  That would be the best new Pokemon rep.

They're both kind of different, though.
Maybe you can be able to switch between which ones you control?
Not while in the air, though. Because if it is like the Ice Climbers, they both die if the one being controlled die. So you could just cheat and switch characters.

They could have the same basic moves but different looks.  For example, they both shoot an energy wave to attack, but Espeon's is purple and called "Psychic" and Umbreon's is black and called "Dark Pulse."

we need our psychic rep back (I know lucario, but he's not really psychic)

Gardevoir or Alakzam!

but mostly Gardevoir due to a lack of a 3rd gen rep

Unless Blaziken is part of some Pokémon Trainer type thing, he'll never become playable.
Anyway, a good playable Pokémon would be... Who cares? Smash doesn't seem to care what moveset they'd have, as long as their popular, like Purin. They probably put in Mewtwo because he was so popular after the movie, and then his popularity went down, so they cut him and put in the new popular Pokémon, Lucario.

True or not, a bunch of other nerds can't get used to her and say "Oh Purin sucks, she should be cut out of the game JUST BECAUSE I SUCK WITH HER DUR DUR DUR"

Most people I know want her gone because her popularity (show wise and game wise) as run out, and we need to constantly filter pokemon in and out besides Pikachu. I mean really, Mewtwo had more standing in the series than Purin ever will, yet Mewtwo gets the axe while Purin stays on old popularity alone?
I seriously think Sakurai just keeps her in to keep the original "joke" character in...

Probably.
They don't want to get rid of any of the original 12 characters.

I have to say. The next pokemon trainer should be Mudkip, Grovyle, Blaziken. Or a Sceptile/Blaziken combo.
