There is the best article on Mario Power Tennis....and this topic is on the New Play Control! title.
I played this when it came out some years ago - and I had a lot of fun with it. Merely renting it, though, wasn't my intent, but hey.
So, this makes a great way for me to get it. Cheaper than having to buy an old GCN version, too.
So, did you enjoy the original? Do you have plans of purchasing the WiiMake?

I still have my Cube version (I think, I may have given it to my little cousin...).
You know my opinion on this...screw Nintendo. Instead of being lazy, they should make the next Mario Tennis instead of charging me for a game I already played. Same goes for ALL the NPC except for Metroid Prime 1 (and Luigi's Mansion if they actually do that game which would be AWESOME). Besides, we already have Wii Sports and other motion tennis games.
I liked the original, and since I still have it I have no plans to buy it,and at least someone here isn't going on a rant about "nintendo just wants our money"

like this guy, SHUT UP already
While I'd love to agree, titles like this make for great wiimakes. Why not? There are people that are out to reclaim their old titles (hi), people that never had a chance to enjoy them (oh look, could this be one of those gateway games I was talking about?), and people that just want the updates.
Hell, even if I had MPT on GCN still, I'd likely buy this one. It's a sensible update. If you ask me, this is better than making new entries. They get a chance to gauge the market, as well as use experimental controls. Makes sense to me.

I would agree with you if it was more than a "let's add motion controls just because...".
Some online functionality, or actually tweaking the basic game design would constitute it, but just motion controls doesn't really do anything. It can gauge a market to a certain extent, like Pikmin and Metroid Prime will, which is fine. I don't see the point in Mario Tennis and other Mario related spinoffs (cept Luigi's Mansion, of course). I mean really, what market is there to test? It's a MARIO spinoff. A game called "Mario watches TV" would sell well X_X:;
Mario Tennis, in my eyes, is to see how well a transition to the Wii would do for the series. Sluggers did well, yes, but the results were less than grandeur. To me, they are simply doing research with the release, while allowing for gamers to get a deal.
My brother has the Gamecube one, which I still borrow from time to time. So no, I probably won't buy it. But knowing my Mom and her semi-newfound love for Mario Sports Titles, she'll probably buy it.
I've never played the GCN version. Loved the original, though. So, I'll be getting this.
Even though it doesn't matter that much to me since I've never played the GCN version, they should really be making a new Mario Tennis instead of just bringing it back.
It is my conclusion that this is an excellent update.
I'd rather have a new Mario Tennis for the DS/DSi than a remake for the Wii. I loved these games, but I hold high standards. Just adding motion control won't cut it for me. Maybe if it had improved graphics and online play I would get it.
I'll be really dissapointed if they never make a Mario Tennis/Golf without online play.
How much does it cost?
I wouldn't mind picking this up if it wasn't too expensive.
I loved Mario Tennis 64 and I was never able to play Mario Power Tennis.
With that being said, I really wish that they would have just made a new one, but if it's reasonably priced, I'll probably pick it up sometime.
Pretty sure MPT, along with Pikmin, is $40.
I plan on getting them both sometime.

All New Play Control games are $30 USD.
It's nice that they at least drop the price to about half when it's not a completely new game.
I'm pretty sure the New Play Control games have quite a bit better graphics than the original games. Like, they all will have progressive support (not all GCN games did), 16:9 support, and smoother 3D models. I don't know about MPT, but for Pikmin, I noticed its smoother models pretty fast when watching the NPC videos.
Eh, they are better in some ways....but for the most part, it's not terribly distinguishable.
And yes, 30 bucks.

That's not too bad, I might pick one up some time.
