Title: Wii with the gamecube controller
Post by: Transient Link on March 15, 2009, 04:33:32 PM
I hate to say it but isnt it kind of sad that now almost every wii game comes with the ability to use a GC controller? It was great for brawl, but for other games its just not neccisary. I mean the wii was meant for using motion controls, if your not interested then get a 360. But haha, I have a 360 and a Wii :P

I'm glad we're being given the option. There are some titles that are meant for Wii Controls, sure. I'm glad titles like MadWorld use them (even with my difficulties), but others seem more like gimmicks with Wii controls (see: MKWii).

So, having choice is good. It offers more for everyone, which also means Nintendo can solidify a larger base, albeit potentially small.

Right, which all goes back to the "casual gamer" I didnt hear many people complaining about the N64 controller and asking for the ability to use their Snes controllers in games, and the N64 controller was pretty messed up :P

And yes I suppose, but I feel like Nintendo really isnt trying to pull out the potential for motion controls. It almost makes me wish they would have just gone the route of Microsoft and sony with regular controls.

There is a difference between reaching potential and making money, though. Brawl disappointed me - at least GCN controls somewhat redeemed the title. To me, the motion shouldn't be all out...just responsive, like when in racing titles you tilt with the controller to turn, even though it does nothing.

As for N64 -> SNES, that's different. The premise is still there, not something wonky. Precision is key in some titles, and without 1:1 in the Wiimote, elements as such are ruined.

Yeah.....but brawl was not bad, Im just tired of the game, and I am dissapointed in the wii controls for brawl, but you have to admit, 4 different controls for a fighting game is pretty good.

It's those options that will help a game be successful. As I said, Brawl was nothing without that kind of option set (including Music).

Why do people dislike the Wiimote-Nunchuk for Brawl?

Some games (Like Boom Blox) are epic with Wii controls. Others, however (Such as Destroy All Humans: Big Willie Unleashed) fail miserably with Wii Controls. I would like a choice.

And I like the Wiimote-Nunchuck for Brawl. The only thing that's a pain in the butt is that I can't grab EXACTLY when I need to.

well the ability to control the camera using the pointer wasn't that bad in Destroy all humans(the game still sucked of course). But the motion controls were terrible in that game.

As for brawl, the wiimote nunchuck was a nice control style...except for the motion smash. Its a good thing that it was optional.
