For sure. Same generation, plus they were giving out the Shaymin that goes badass when you trade it to Platinum.

Can I trade a Diamond pokemon to my friend's platinum, get some move tutor moves, and get him back? Cause in Diamond they can't learn those moves.

I think you can do that, yes.
The only thing is you can't get special forms of Pokemon, since they revert to their normal selves when trading.
Yeah, as far as I know that trade would work. Like Doodle said, the limitation is on formes.
