Title: Finally beat Super Mario Bros. 2 (THE REAL MARIO 2, aka "The Lost Levels")
Post by: Nayrman on March 21, 2009, 01:19:02 PM
Well, fifteen years after getting the game, I finally beat Mario: The Lost Levels, aka "The Real Mario 2".
My god that game was freaking hard! The later levels are worthy of being in KAIZO MARIO (if anyone knows what that is). I only managed to record the last level, but I'll upload it soon. I'll also upload the final level of the first Mario Bros. (direct from SNES!).

The last two levels in Mario 2 are insane. You'll see what I mean about the last one, but the second to last is just arsehole-ISH. Okay, imagine a row of two hammer bros. that CHASE you, and your only real hope is to just run as fast as you can and jump over them. Now, at the second one, an INVISIBLE block appears, effectively forcing you to run into the hammer bro. Also, no mushrooms in that level, and the invisible block gives a POISON mushroom (thus adding insult to injury). And it's like that the entire level.
The funny thing is, I loved every minute of the game. I love this sort of memorize the level so well you could do it blindfolded stuff. And that's the WORK of the game. I miss games like this. Too bad Nintendo won't make anything difficult like that ever again. But my god it felt so good to finally beat it.

Again, I'll upload it and give the link when it's done.

- Mario 1 final level

- Mario 2 final level

It certainly shows you the difference between the Japanese and American bases. I absolutely love Lost Levels, on VC, and I'm glad I nabbed it. I believe what series like Mario need are to offer two variants - one classic, one intense.

The last level in The Lost Levels is D-4, not 8-4.
I beat it. But I wouldn't be able to beat the NES version. Saving helps. :P

Last "technical" level, considering I rescued the princess (I went on to do the rest. That was just the only level I recorded because I had my stuff packed already. Hooray end of spring break....NOT)

Congratulations! Now go through it seven more times, once without warps.

I'm stuck on 5-1, and I've had the game (Famicom Version) for a year. Of course, it's my first run through and I'm trying to do it without warps, guides, or videos.

Yeah, there are nine levels in The Lost Levels.

I plan on getting the disk soon, if the Retro Game Master can beat it, so can I.
