Title: New WiiWare Innovation
Post by: Macawmoses on March 25, 2009, 07:42:02 PM
It's been announced that the WiiWare will be able to make use of the Wii Balance Board, as demonstrated by a title known as Rock N' Roll Climber.

I'm a little skeptical. To me it looks like this will just be used as a gimmick. But who am I to argue with WW innovation when titles like MM9 and World of Goo make me rejoice? Do you think this will work well?

...WiiWare titles haven't been able to use the Balance board before?

I always thought it's kinda expected that WiiWare games has access to all the Wii hardware that Disc-based games and homebrew apps have access to. Wiimote speakers, WiiSpeak, extension controllers like MotionPlus and guitar, SD card, GCN controllers, Balance Board, USB keyboards, and so on.
Whether or not WiiWare developers actually want to implement any of those things into their games is another story, though.

It's more or less that it's a promotion. Rather than anything simple, it's going to be sold as the definitive title.

Yeah, but for people like me who dont own a board not so much. It would stink if there was a hit title on wiiware like mario, and i couldnt play cuz of board.
