What do you think is the best Mario Kart game to date?
I still have to say it's MK64. I just have the most fun playing it.
Either 64 because of excellent track design, or DS because of the near perfect controls.
Mario Kart Wii, aside from wider tracks, is insanely badass.
Mario Kart DS, mainly because of the courses and how much fun I had with that game.
Either 64 for the tracks, or Wii for the online.
Super Mario Kart for the SNES.
I still love and play that game. I just think it's amazing
The N64 is the best version of all time. I am so glad I have it.
I have to say Super Mario Kart me and my sister would rent it just about every weekend, at least till a friend loaned it too me almost ten years ago and never asked for it back, same with Mario RPG
First vote for Mario Kart: Double Dash.
Though a dumb idea originally, I love it. It's just so much fun, I like that choosing your character, you do it to have strategy, not just weight, or your favorite character based on looks, you had to pick for special items. Use the giant banana to help prevent people from catching up? or use golden mushroom to catch up? I also liked the usage of 2 characters, why choose your favorite, when you can use your favorite and second favorite? And Co-op was fun too, drive while your friend steals items and throws them, or switch when you're tired of their bad aim/bad driving.
I agree with JR. DD is my favorite.
FYI, not that anybody cares, my duo was Diddy Kong and Baby Mario with the Baby Kart. Not only are they fast as hell and have good traction, but Giant Banana keeps you in first, and Chain Chomp gets you there.
DS. It has the tightest everything, and was well ahead of its time on so many levels. It's also really simple. Wii and 64 are next, but DS is the Mario Kart to own.

I really did like double dash, simply because of how Unique it was.
Every game though has it's great aspect though.
Thing is I never played Mario Kart on the D.S. So I have no comment on that one, and I don't own the Original.
From what I just know,
Mario Kart 64 was just so a big improvement in a lot of ways from the original. Not to mention on just how much fun and easy it was to play And even Master.
The shortcuts were Notorious to say the least..... Can you imagine everybody taking that HUGE short cut on Rainbow Road at the same time? Now THAT is fun :D

With it's lag-less online connection and huge competitive play and it's online features, is Great in itself. Granted, I'm not INTO it as much as other karts... I guess cause it's so frustrating (I mean, your in 1st place on Solo mode or what ever, then BAM Blue Shell, ZAP lighting, POW red shell, SLAM green shell all right after one another THEN you lose, UGH!!!, but the urge to play it again is coming back.
I hope they make another Mario Kart in the future,.... I'm sure they will Mario Kart is a huge success in itself. ^_^

Of all the spin-offs (RPG's I don't count as spin-offs, since they're their own side series), Mario Kart is the only one worth keeping around. They'll definitely make more, and I really am looking forward to it. I just want a true battle mode for online X_X:;
I grew up on 64, but I'm still gonna have to say DS, being one of the few games I was literally obsessed with on a noticeable level. It was what brought me to FCD in the first place and will always have that special place in my heart. :'(
