I pop by quite a few Nintendo sites, and it seems like quite a few people are upset that we went from a Steam Boat to Train. They claim that it modernizes the series too much, and that this does not correlate with a Medieval Setting.
Frankly, that pisses me off. Hyrule is not Earth. As such, it can advance in a different way than we did. Rather than becoming a much less Feudal system, and then industrializing, it is doing so at its prime. That's because it is a (fictional) alternate universe.
Personally, I'm fine with it, as long as they don't skip into guns, cars, etc.
Thoughts on the more "modern" Zelda?
I don't really mind the train. We went from a sailboat, to a steamboat, to a train. Twilight Princess showed some advances in technology since OoT, too. There's no problem with progress, right? As long as they don't overdo it.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to prepare for another one of Nayr's rants.
remember in LA they had phones, so as long as it doesn't become like final fantasy and go from medieval to flying airships and the like its fine
I just don't like the train because it looks like a terrible game mechanic.
I personally think that the most Zelda should modernize would be a sort of steampunk type society.
The train is just another way to get around in the world like the boats were before, albeit more restricted.
I dislike it simply because it feels gimmicky.
I'm against it but at the same time interested...its weird. I don't like change but there have not been any issues with some modernizing for me yet, such as with the boat. All I can say is if link suddenly either doesn't have a sword, or has laser sword, i'm gonna be PISSED.
I don't care....
I'm not getting it.
I'm waiting for Zelda wii.
Which they should release sometime soon. >=(

If I remember, one came out like 2 years ago.
Eh. It's natural for a civilization's technology to advance. As long as we don't get guns, airships, and that sort of thing, I'm okay with it.
That being said, it still seems kind of gimmicky.
Wait... what train? 0_o
Yeah, I don't like modernizing Zelda at all. It should be more primitive.
Meh, whatever, doesn't really matter, as long as the game is fun, right? Oh wait, nowdays it's mostly about graphics, and realistic, and being cool and a bunch of bull.
I find it funny how many of you are saying people should stop getting mad and that it's fine to become more advanced, and then you immediately say that you don't want it to get more advanced with guns and stuff.
I personally want Zelda to stay more Middle-earth style than real-earth style. That's one of the things that has separated Zelda from other fantasy series like Final Fantasy.
Also, I hate the train because it's so restricted.
Agreed.
As long as they don't make a "Modern" Zelda game, and by modern I mean 21st century. I am fine with it.
I like it. I'm fine with these kinds of advances in Zelda games. But it shouldn't become too modern.
Haha... Link with a gun.
Just picture it. Link running around in a big city with a handgun.
Not a big fan of the train though. I'd rather have him run.
