We always have debates about Mario Sports. I, personally, love many of the titles, be it Hoops, Kart, Tennis, etc. They all have their own style that's just fun. Others aren't necessarily fans of them at all. Tis fine.
My question here is, how do we make the sports titles more accessible - but for both core and casual gamers? To me, the characters are a casual hook, but what about adding some others like Captain Syrup to get the diehard Mario fans riled up? How do we find controls that work? Why not fully customized like Brawl?
It seems Nintendo still doesn't get that Mario Sports are great series, but only if done well. Do you see any issues aside from the two I mentioned that may help Mario Sports become more than just spinoff series? Or are they ultimately doomed to collapse?
Make the gameplay more like other sports games so they actually have some depth instead of games like Baseball only use two buttons X_X;;
Also, maybe Nintendo should take their time with them so they can actually be good. I mean really, FIVE YEARS per Mario platformer but we get at LEAST one spinoff every freakin year. C'mon now!

Oh, I know what you mean!
*Coming soon, a new series: Super Mario FIFA 11*
Super Mario Football. I can see it now.
I highly doubt that any Mario Sports titles will ever become more than spinoff series.
And I agree with Nayr, we need more platformer Mario games more often. Though they probably just can't think of much good ideas, probably because they waste their ideas on their spinoff games. (Hmm, I don't think I've ever seen Nayr make a post without a complaint in it)
Super Mario Football already exists... In everywhere besides the english versions. Hmm, if they did make a Mario Football, what would they call it everywhere else?
Super Mario American Football, obviously.
Oh, and remember how Mario/Luigi/Peach were in the GCN version of SSX: On Tour? That was awesome, I always played as Mario and I always ruled. =D
