Corruption beats the conduit in graphics. Everything else in the video is < The Conduit.
It lacks a little bit of polish that MP3:C has, but it still looks pretty good for the Wii.
It's not better than Prime 3, but still better than the rest.
Too bad I don't really care about graphics.

Prime 3 was an unadulterated piece of poop.
what are you talking about? Prime 3 was a fine game I loved it
it sucked.
You must have never played any other Metroid games, because Prime 3 is far and away the worst of all of them (save hunters, which isn't made for single player).
I have played them all, and why did it suck?
1. it was linear. You weren't allowed to explore anywhere but the main path. If you wandered off, you could find expansions. You couldn't go anywhere ahead of schedule, something that is classically a central and core aspect of the metroid series. See:
Metroid
Metroid 2
Super Metroid
Zero Mission (though this was planned, so it doesn't count as much)
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
Metroid Prime: Hunters
2. The isolationist experience was gone. This is another core aspect to the series that made classics such as Prime and Super possible.
Note that the 3 metroid games that rank just above Corruption on the poopty scale (Hunters, Fusion, and Prime 2, respectively) all are less isolationist than the classics of the series, the exception being Prime 2.
3. The game became more of a shooter and less of an explorer. Tying in with the 1st point, you ran around killing enemies, not figuring out how to kill them. To get to the next area, you simply had to shoot a door. In more complex situations, you were told how to clear the area, despite the fact that the room was supposed to have a puzzle within it.
4. The game limited the player by blocking off areas with weapons that the player used only once or twice. See the 5-missile (i forget what it is called at this point), the Acid Rain protector (you can skip this, and once you do, you never need it again), the ball jump (instead of just allowing more bomb jumps), ship missiles, Energy Modules (not energy tanks, the things you need for the abandoned ship), the grapple drainer, ice missiles (should have added just an ice beam) and the x-ray visor.
I'm sure there are a couple more I could dredge up.
Examples of this in other games are:
-Artifacts, Keys in Prime 1 and 2 (though not an issue in Prime 1, as you can collect them along the way for the most part)
-The X-ray visor in Prime 1
-Emerald, etc. modulators in Prime 2 (to open doors)
-the light/dark gimmick in prime 2
-the screw attack in prime 2
-the area keys in prime 2
-the area keys in hunters
-the spider-ball in Prime (though not terribly limiting, that was its main purpose, to limit).
-the beams in hunters (you really only used a few, because the rest were worthless)
-the portals in Prime 2
-diffusion missiles in fusion
-Bob in fusion (the required missile pack)
-the light & dark suits in prime 2
-the gravity booster in prime 2 (seriously, wtf?)
note how I say prime 2 a lot. this is because it sucked as well, but not on the scale of prime 3. prime 3 sucked because they saw prime 2 as a success.
5. The absolute lack of difficulty.
I'm not that incredible of a gamer. However, I don't give up terribly easily. I shouldn't be able to tear through the game on 1 collected energy tank (read: 199 health), on HYPER MODE, skipping all missile expansions and the Acid Rain protector as well, and only die at the scripted events (when trying to skip the acid rain, phaze, the first major boss).
Prime 1 had the difficulty correct. Prime 2 may have gone a bit overboard at some points, and was underwhelming at others (note: boosty and the final bosses).
but really, this is the major point:6. The attempt to block any attempt at skipping sections of the game.
THIS is the cancer that is killing Metroid.
THIS is what is killing the series
THIS is why Nintendo should sell the series for the good of the series.
THIS is why the hardcore and classic fans HATED Prime 2 AND Prime 3.
and THIS is why this game is a piece of SHIT.
Prime 1 was AMAZING.
Super Metroid was FAR better.
You know why?
Freedom.
Absolute freedom.
You were hardly restricted by anything but your skill and your wits. Metroid had this as well, but due to the vast difficulty of the game and its reluctance to ever give in, it doesn't get the credit it deserves in being open-ended as well.
In Super Metroid, you could basically go wherever you wanted, whenever you wanted.

Watch those videos, and see what Metroid
really is. The freedom is astounding, and it is what allows for the feeling that you're exploring this unknown planet. Not blocked by some arbitrary rules, saying "you can't go there! There's an invisible wall here!"
See, if Prime 3 was made in the style of Super, instead of needing that grapple swing? You would be able to stand on top of the rail and walk to the end. There wouldn't be arbitrary areas that you need to "go hyper" to get through.
This is why Yokoi's death was such a tragedy.
Prime was an amazing game, but it was a step in the wrong direction. Metroid should have never gone 3d, as it has killed the core founding of the series. I used to believe otherwise, but now I see that this is true.
Prime didn't have the freedom of Super, but it was along the right lines. Grabbing the space jump off the start allowed you so much freedom. Players Choice took this away, which is why this is seen as the vastly inferior version. PAL did this to an extent as well.
See, in 3D, you would think you would have more freedom, right? Well, that's not entirely true. Developers have another dimension to work with, and as a result can bar off just that much more areas. In Prime, the low% game has evolved to 22%. Although 21% is technically possible, it is not within human means to accomplish it (need an emulator, just like skipping Bob the missile expansion in fusion). The power of people has excelled in this game, people working together to skip items, like the old days with Super Metroid, Rygar, and Castlevania.
In Metroid Prime, you are given a taste of the freedom that was Super Metroid, but no more. We are too limited by the artifacts and the required X-ray visor (well, its not technically required, but its either that or all of the energy tanks).

this is the metroid prime page, and this is what has been accomplished over the last 7 years. The videos here are definitely not all that is available, but they provide a good sampling.
The power of people excels in these games, and it just isn't there in Prime 3. There's nothing to scrounge, as there are so many junk situational items, that you don't even feel accomplishment for grabbing them.
One of the most rewarding feelings in gaming is doing what the developer didn't think of. This is what hardcore Metroid has been about, up until Zero Mission.
1:04 was the previous metroid prime record.
1:03 is the current metroid prime record.
pushing boundaries, never giving up, exploring to your hearts' content.
This is what Metroid was, not what Metroid is.
Metroid today (Zero Mission, Prime 2, Prime 3, Hunters) is less than a shadow of its' former self.
it's kinda sad that you went to so much effort to explain how much you hate the game
I have to agree, but he did bring up some good points.
And I loved Prime 2. =|
Can't wait until Nayr looks at this thread...

i average 80 wpm, and i've written this quite a few times before.
This isn't just metroid, this is the fall of the past generation of gaming.
You know why OoT, aLttP, and MM were the two most loved zelda games?
Freedom to explore.
Banjo Kazzoie? Banjo Tooie?
DK 64?
Freedom to explore.
Mario Bros.
Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Things to find, freedom to explore. Which is why Mario Bros 2 sucked. Nothing to find.
Exploration, open-world games, platformers need freedom, otherwise they get stale and are forgettable.
Bethesda is a good example of a modern day developer that does this.
Though the linear game can be made well (Bioshock, Goldeneye, Half-Life), it usually requires a shooter format, which we didn't have back in the golden days.
Before I smack you kids (you can take your argument to Nintendo, the board), I want one reply.
"THIS is why the hardcore and classic fans HATED Prime 2 AND Prime 3."
You =/= Everyone
Just thought I would point that out. I personally adored MP3, and MP2 was overall good. I'm a classic and hardcore gamer, too. You need to realize tastes in gaming change, and maybe it is YOU that is behind, or changing for the worst. Saying dippoop things like Nintendo needs to sell Metroid proves you really have no sense of the matter. Look at the direction of Megaman - nothing too amazing in terms of the "classic" sense until this past year, as that is what consumers wanted. We also wanted the GBA and other installments, that in fact wound up poopty. Feel free to reply to this - via the proper board and thread.
In terms of the comparison, the reason I brought up the gfx (which is uncommon of me) is because the Conduit claimed to have 360 like graphics...even MP3 didn't have that. I am starting to feel let down.
Graphically, it looks fine.
I don't really care about graphics very much, anyways. If they are decent, I'm fine.
The Conduit looks fine to me, but hey, that's why they have a month and 25 day to finish polishing the game.
As long as the gameplay controls are decent, I don't mind.
