Are you kidding? They're not obscure at all, I've heard them on the radio.
I've taken a liking to I See Stars, but they're pretty popular around school.

uh no most people taht are updated with music in general have heard them.
here's a brand new band from LA called Drive A. I saw them warm up for Alkaline Trio a couple weeks ago in New Haven Connecticut. They have their first single on iTunes that you should check out. After seeing them live its safe to say They're pretty talented. It cool to think the singer passed inches in front of me in the crowd.
A couple other low profile bands that are pretty good are Pennywise and Houston Calls.
Streetlight Manifesto is still kind of unheard of but they tour constantly. As is Catch 22.
I also like Four Year Strong, but they're getting popular too.
I've played shows with Shortstop from Tokyo and Write What You Want. Both excellent.
Also, I've heard Rocket Boots kicks ass. [/plug]
Focus.
Neat band from Holland.
Also: Last Crack
The Beatles, oh wait. On serious note, Bill Haley and His Comets. Not very many people know them as much as they should.
N.E.R.D.
Not many people I know have heard of them, at least.
Also iwrestledabearonce, but not many people are into that sort of music i suppose.
Camel.
Liquid Tension Experiment, side project for Dream Theater. Absolutely amazing. Heck, most people have probably heard of Dream Theater, but that's one that not too many people know. They do have one hit, after all. >_>

I've heard "Rock Around the Clock" (amazing song), but what other songs would you recommend?

I was going to make a thread on this. :)
Anyway: Black Stone Cherry and Priestess (yes I know they were on GH3 but their other stuff is good too) Priestess is gaining some recognition I think, but I haven't heard anything major.
I wish I could name more, but I can't. :(
Oh yeah, and: DIMMU BORGIR \m/

Streetlight Manifesto is actually really popular in my school at least.
and i think Flaw and Coal Chamber aren't that well known, even though their awesome.
I'm really not sure what bands are considered to be well known or not though..
Here are a few great lesser known bands that people should know:
Overview, Everybody Else, The Tangent, Holy Fuck, The Kills (not as much, but still less known), and somehow nobody I've talked to in the US knows anything about Manic Street Preachers, which is a pity.
Ceili Rain
/thread
Rotovox.
At least I think they are pretty un-heard-of.
Anyone heard of a Christian band called Downhere? They are unheard of among all my friends. The band is not new and has been active since 2001. Great lyrics, and albums; not to mention Juno and Dove award winners. Better than Kutless or Thousand Foot Krutch in my opinion, but those two bands are great as well.
Nobody I know has ever heard of Pearl Jam

Nobody I know has ever heard of Pearl Jam
Really? Wow. They're actually quite famous. My friends enjoy their music, as do I. They're a great band.
Nobody hearing of Pearl jam is ridiculous. Make new friends :P
Lost prophets are really popular, along with streetlight manifesto, but I can see friends not knowing them.
I <3 liquid tension experiment. It's like dream theater, without a terible singer! But I don't mind labries voice that much (many do though).
You all should check out The Red Paintings, The Dresden Dolls and Blonde Red heat. Crazy awesome stuff.
The Blood Brothers
Suffocate For Fuck Sake
um
Half of my music library
Yeah it sucks most of my friends are only into hip-hop and rap (I actually really like hip-hop and rap, but rock is better). There are a few who like rock, but still only a few of my friends have heard of Pearl Jam though and that's only because "Even Flow" was on GHIII.
The name of the band is Counting Crosses they rock...
Thrice, Alkaline Trio, Motion City Soundtrack (Thrice will be in GH this time :3, try The alchemy Index, if you like harder-like music try stuff before that, they made an "Elinor Rigby" cover, but it is not all that special in my opinion, pretty good I s'pose)
Also, my friend found me a Punk Rap (yes Punk Rap, never heard of it either) band called P.O.S. and they're pretty darn awesome. Their 2009 album was freaking awesome. Like The Flobots, but pretty much better, or at least as good. I think P.O.S. is probably more hardcore.
Some Indie obscure, abstract-like bands are
Black Moth Super Rainbow, Autumn's Grey Solace (dream pop/shoegaze-like)
Get Well Soon, M83, Animal Collective (prolly heard of them :D ), Grizzly Bear, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear are relatively similar.
And I tried my first Trance:
Organic Waveforms - Probspot
Just download it if you like Trance, as in now. Very sure the name is Probspot.

I found it on a site called What.CD, and it was a freeleech torrent, so I tried it. I liked it :3 Have any specific artists to recommend?

Right, it's not like I'm even listening to them right now or anything...
Oh, did I mention An Endless Sporadic before? Can't remember...
