Yes, swine flu appeared here because a boy didn't wash his hands or went to Mexico City and took it all the way HERE.
(Of course, I don't know how he got it).
This caused my schools to close until May 8th, but why do they close the schools? I know it's because for the people getting the flu but why until that day and not the entire month?
Oh, and by the way, scientists could finish a vaccine for it by June, according to some sources.

Also, I'm pretty sure the only confirmed cases are in the southern part of California... although, there have been rumors of there being a person who has a possibility of having the disease around here. Eh, I dunno.

The death count is waaaay lower than most thought, and it really looks a lot less deadly than normal influenza.
I've had the flew for 2 years in a row... and if that didn't kill me I think I'll be fine. (knocks on wood)
Anyway, there have been 2 confirmed cases in my state I believe.

I used to be afraid/paranoid about this flue going around in my area...especially since Mexicans visit my store frequently.... always buying soccer stuff :P

But point being, I'm not scared of it anymore..... IF Anything people will just get Very sick from it.................and then thats it. I'm sure people with weak immune systems may Really become weakened by this thing but I don't think It's TOO much to worry about.
Society/Media has a good tendency of really heightening things up sometimes.
It's a serious matter Yes, and My Empathy goes out to those who lost from this flue in the world, but I don't think it's something people should go crazy about........... not yet atleast.

one baby died in the US from swine flu, but babies die from the normal flu so it's nothing to worry about, when people our age start dying then I'll worry

It's a slightly different version of the flu. Last I checked it's only killed a 3 yr. old toddler in Texas.

I've just now recently heard it's in New Orleans (1 case) and somewhere past Baton Rouge ( 1 case ).
You'd think that if it was Highly Contagious a ton of people would of gotten.... like an epidemic.

I'm surprised as well. A long time ago, it was contagious but it seems, although the illness is more dangerous than before, that the preventions are even higher than before.
