Title: DJ Hero
Post by: Macawmoses on May 08, 2009, 12:36:18 AM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Hero

I just found out about this game.

Apparently it's meant to be a spinoff of GH...go figure. I must say, using a turntable with effects, buttons, etc. sounds amazingly fun. Plus, with Daft Punk as speculated characters, it can't get much more awesome.

This is the type of progression I like to see. New and original. Not YET ANOTHER INSTALLMENT OF THE SAME OL SAME OL.

Thoughts?

Also, I'll probably get it.

beatmania was better.

Well, I guess this will appeal to the crowds here with the music choices, I suppose.

How can you say it was better based on an unreleased game?

I just so happen to be biased towards Japan-side Bemani games and against Activision cuz GH:WT killed it for me. :X

Well, yeah. I consider a new peripheral a new start, myself.

One word: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Success of this game will depend solely on soundtrack.

After how much I didn't find GH:3 And Aerosmith enjoyable to play then WT Came along with neat drums and all and WT Didn't turn out that much to dissapoint for me, I have to agree.

Well, this may be a better start than GH1 for them If done right. I My Sister already know a lot of people IRL Who are already interested in it.

Yeah. The big thing with the franchise is that there is only so much one can do with a guitar. Add a turntable into the "mix", though, and there comes new ideas. Really, this could be a fantastic way to show why they are a popular brand.

Well, it's definitely new and different.
I'd try it out. I don't know if many people would be interested in it, though.

Didn't see this posted, but here's some new info about the game that was posted off of another site: (Person wasn't able to post scans)

Quote
-This is the actual turntable, earlier rumors were true.
http://www.giantbomb.com/dj-hero/61-23882/take-a-look-at-the-dj-hero-controller/35-241534/
-Developed by Freestyle games.
-1-2 players.
-Turntable has two parts, the "platter" for the disc is the largest piece, it has three buttons on it, green, red and blue. The second piece, which is detachable to enable lefty mode, includes the face and directional buttons, a Euphoria button, an effects dial, and a crossfader.
-Only three "scrolling" tracks, the outside two must be used with the crossfader in order to work.
-Each track slides left and right to indicate the crossfader's direction.
-Playing consistently will build up the Rewind Meter, which can be used to send the song back to an earlier section.
-The tracks have up or down arrows showing which way to scratch the disc, and occasionally an X will be shown, letting the player scratch in either direction.
-Tracks will have an overlay in some parts of a song, giving a player an opportunity to use the effects dial.
-The Euphoria button is used to trigger Star Power.
-Most of the game's songs will be unlocked at the beginning.
-Freestyle microphone input is supported.
-10 songs will support duet play with a guitar controller.

Why are some of you guys saying its a terrible concept?
How is that logical at all?

Its not original (well, for the gaming industry I suppose, but who didn't think of Turntable Hero 5 years ago?) but it is bold. People are going to be like "lol posers trying to mix and poop what losers" but really this idea is fantastic.

Peripheral is amazing. Better than any guitars or drum sets to date, and it seems to work pretty well.

I for one am going to play it... no buy it though. :P

Where's the DP on the tracklist?  I don't see them.

Also, no chembros, no fatboy, no prodigy.  Massive failure.  Also, no trip-hop from what I saw.

Though Rockit made me smile, aswell as Bittersweet Symphony, My name is, and Intergalactic.

Not worth it though imo.

It's original, but not my "cup of tea". I just couldn't see myself playing it. Plus I haven't heard much of the music on it, let alone the genres. I have to do some research on it.

What I'd like to see though, is compatibility with a drum set, guitar (especially bass), and singing. How awesome would it be to be "just another Guitar Hero" except instead of lead guitar, a turntable? It'd be sweet to see the singer up front, the bassist jamming to the side, the disc jockey on the other side (or somewhere in back), and the drummer playing some crazy beat in the back too. That'd be awesome.
