Title: Songs about sleep/dreams/etc?
Post by: Macawmoses on May 16, 2009, 12:06:58 AM
As you know, the Sleepover gets ranks based on sleep and dreams. Ala the Dream Police and Dream Weaver.

Sweet Dreams is really the only one I can think of besides those. Ideas for others? What songs really fit the sleep idea but are popular enough to be good enough for listening to?

Dreamer's Ball by Queen. Though I don't think that is suitable name for a rank. I shall make a list of songs involving dreams, sleep, and nightmares. I will edit as I think of them. Some may or may not be suitable for a rank title.

Now I am just going suggest random songs that either say night/dream/etc. and/or have a cool name and are just awesome :3

Dreamin' Man - Neil Young

Night Prowler - AC/DC

Jokerman - Bob Dylan

Spaceman - The Killers ( :3 )

Brain Damage - Pink Floyd

Love, Reign O'er Me - The Who

Dragonfly - Ziggy Marley

Night Prowler is more about sneaking into the gf's room though. Neil Young rules though...

Maybe so, but I was leaning towards it due to it involving night as well as the fitting name. New song is up, I will have a few more coming. I'm going little outside the boundaries of just sleep and dreams.

Spaceman is plausible.

Blargh, it will take forever to dig through my itunes library so what I have listed now is good enough, even though it is a odd list compared to what was asked for.

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd rules!

Numb is an interesting choice and on my list of nominees. It does rule.

Thank you. I'm still trying to think of other cool songs about sleep.

The closest thing I can come up with is "Come Clarity" by In Flames \m/
It's more about someone understanding their life and wanting guidance in it, but the chorus/main lyric of the song is:

Quote"I want you to lead me
Take me somewhere
Don't want to live in a dream one more day"

The rest of the lyrics can be found here:

It's a great song, really. And by the way, it's melodic death metal/alternative metal. Just listen to it though. If you're new to metal, it may surprise you.

HOW COULD I FORGET?  ????
"ENTER SANDMAN" BY METALLICA (or was that too obvious?)

"Chinese Sleep Chant" - Coldplay

"The Escapist" - Coldplay

"Castle on a Cloud" - Les Miserables

"Fantasies Come True" - Avenue Q

There's more, but they're not coming to mind at the moment. I'll edit them in if I can remember.

EDIT: How could I forget?

"Working on a Dream" - Bruce Springsteen

"I Dreamed a Dream" - Les Miserables

Daydream Believer by The Monkees? Maybe for the next sleepover.
