Title: MKWii - Gamree's Challenge
Post by: Gamree on May 24, 2009, 11:11:08 PM
Okay, not so much a challenge so much as a... hands on lesson.  So quite a few people have been wondering and asking how I'm so fast in Mario Kart, and instead of telling people in long detailed paragraph-like essays, I decided to simply just show them.  So about every week (or two), I'll be sending one of my Ghost Time Trials over the NWFC to people on my MKWii FC list to let them not only see how I speed down certain tracks, but also to let them try and beat my ghosts themselves and improve their own times.  I'm no super pro at the game, but I'm good enough to work people over in the game, so be prepared for some difficult challenges ahead.

This week, we're going to start off easy with my ghost on the Luigi Circuit (first track).  This'll be kind of a trial test to see if this idea will catch on and to give some people an idea of what they'll be going up against.  My time is 1:18.672, so good luck to those people who I have sent my ghost to and I hope it helps!

If you would like to join in and have me send my ghost to you, then just post it and I'll send you my ghost.  The list of people who will recieve the data are listed below.

1. StarWndWiz
2. Playat
3. MYL (MasterYoungLink)
4. DB99 (DoodleBoy)
5.

And before anyone mentions anything, I'm giving about 90% of my best effort into these ghosts.  I still need to play around with the vehicles a bit more (haven't unlocked them all) before I know which one is best for which course, but for now, and to keep things a bit balanced, I'm using Luigi and medium vehicles.  So if you beat my ghost, consider it a pretty good feat.  I might occassionally use a car, but most of my times will be coming from bikes, since I'm a bike kinda guy.  8)

Wow, you're really cocky, you talk as if you're pro, even though you at the same time claim you're not. I'm not saying I'm better (because I'm not), I'm just stating my annoyance toward conceded people.

Oh Thank you Gamree!
I really appreciate that! I will gladly accept your ghost.
Chances are though I'll never beat it anyway!

I think he's just trying to help Jr Dude, especially since people keep asking him how is so fast.

He doesn't HAVE to do this!

Yes I know, he just says it in a conceded way.

Yeah, actually, last I checked on the friend's rankings, your time is right behind mine by a few seconds.  I'm sure you won't have any problem shaving off some of that time after a few tries. After I saw how close your time was to mine, I thought you probably didn't need any of my help, but I decided to send the ghost data to you anyway so you could beat it. ;D

I'm sure you'll be able to beat it or match it after a few tries and time.  Like Doodleboy pointed out, he's only a few seconds behind my time.  If you have any problems, just try testing out different vehicles.  I had to switch bikes to get a faster time on Luigi Circuit than what I had a week ago.

Believe what you want, I'm just proud of my skills.  And even if they're not pro skills, or even close, I still have the right to be happy with what I have.  Also, this'll be a fun way to help some people around here get faster and become better all around.

Good, you weren't bothered by what I said, not often found here. Anyway, I may look into this if I ever get back into a MKW mood.

Sorry about the lapse of no posting.  Just got back from vacation.  Yeah, sure, I'll send you some ghost data to race against when you're ready, just send me your FC when you have it.

And to everyone else who gets ghost data from me on this, I'll be sending out the next "challenge" either tomorrow or Sunday, so look forwards to it. ;D

I used to use the Mach Bike a lot.
Then I starting unlocking and using other bikes, and found one I liked better.

Yeah, I just switched over to the Mach Bike recently.  I still usually use the Standard Bike M when doing normal races, though, because I feel more comfortable with it.  If I spent the time, I could probably use a heavy bike and get a faster time on my Time Trials, but Luigi can't ride heavy vehicles and I'm not about to lose him just yet. :P

Anyway, time for the next "challenge" again, finally.  Trying to keep things in order, and going down the list, the next track is Mushroom Gorge (yeah, yeah, Moo Moo Meadows was next, but I am horrendously bad at the track.  Tried to Time Trial it and I crashed into about seven things on my first lap, so if anyone is looking to improve on that track, sorry, I can't help you there.  I suck at it. :P ).  My time here is 1:56:760.  Maybe a little harder than the Luigi Circuit time, but still within reason, depending on how you do on this track.  It's not as boring as Luigi Circuit's figure 8, either, so yay to no more senseless turning right all the time (now we turn left).  Good luck to everyone and if there are any questions, I'll try to help.

Also, I figured out a new technique that would cut my time down quite a bit more than what it is already, but I'm having difficulty trying to pull it off correctly and perfecting it, so this time might change sometime in the future depending on if I can actually pull off my trick or not.

I can't actually remember the last time I played MK Wii xD

I would If I played, but I don't really. Mostly PS3 for me lately.

O_O
Harken!  An old FCD Elite!  Haven't seen your face around in a while (then again, haven't looked very far past the Brawl Board).  Yeah, I dropped MKWii for a good while shortly after it came out, but some recent races got me back into the racing mood again.  I doubt it'll last long after the Conduit comes out, though.  >.>

Haha. I kinda only drop by this site every now and then nowadays. Every few days at least.
I don't think it's so much as it not being the same FCD as it used to be, as it is that I'm not the same that I used to be.

I play games less than I used to at least. I've grown to like the PS3 more than the Wii to be honest.
Mostly for like Call of Duty and stuff.

But nothing will replace the DS in my opinion. That was an amazing system. I'm sad I sold it.

Ah, if memory serves me correctly, the future-seeing prophet DBY said you would feel that way eventually.  And his magical ego would blow through the roof if he heard me say that. ;D
