I usually put on some old Alan Jackson or George Strait, but lately the song "The Girl Is Mine" by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney really calms me a lot. That's some great music when you want a break from metal.
What about you?
Led Zeppelin's "Mothership" album
Wishing Well by Buckethead, You by MattRach, and other instrumentals
Lately I've been relaxing to "Whatever It Is" by The Zach Brown Band.
happy anime songs, YMCK, and Chiaki Ishikawa.
Anything by the Beatles and Led Zeppelin, especially "Something" and "What is and what should never be," respectively.
I just listened to "PDA" by Interpol, courtesy of
Rock Band 2, and although it may be boring, bland, and a bit strange, after listening to it about 20 times on different occasions, I actually like the song. It's a great calming song. And I know what you mean by a "break from metal". I'm a serious metalhead, but I also listen to other stuff too. Other great calming songs are:
- "No Excuses" by Alice in Chains
Yeah it's weird, no I don't get it, but it's a great song and it totally has meaning. The reason for the video is because it is currently one of my favorite songs and I think you should listen to it.
- various Tool songs including "Parabola", "Vicarious", and "Schism"
(all on GH:WT lol) just like many of the others here- "Angel" by Jimi Hendrix
- various Grateful Dead songs such as "Sugar Magnolia", "Franklin's Tower", "Uncle John's Band", and "Fire on the Mountain"
These are on Rock Band- "Times Like These" and "Long Road to Ruin" by Foo Fighters
- "Nothing Else Matters", "The Unforgiven", and "Fade to Black" by Metallica
- "Simple Man" and "Tuesday's Gone" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
- "Green Grass and High Tides" by The Outlaws
- "Satellites and Astronauts", "The Mirror's Truth", and "Cloud Connected" by In Flames
- "A Tout le Monde" by Megadeth
- "Closer" by Lacuna Coil
- "Shooting Star" by Bad Company
- "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding Pt. 1" by Billy Idol
Those are some songs that I consider to be relaxing. Hopefully I didn't forget any.

That's a good smooth song. I really like that album.
And TerribleFrog, Alice in Chains is in my Top 5 favorite bands. You should check out Metallica's cover of Tuesday's Gone.
Uh... Black Eyed Peas. I'm a bit obsessed.
Anything from Radiohead really, although I've noticed "Fake Plastic Trees", "Exit Music (For a Film)", and "Videotape" especially.
My R&B. Right now I have in my "The Diary of Alicia Keys" CD in.
Probably IOSYS. Especially 'The Feast Never Ends'. That always brings a smile to my insides.
Trance/Electronic with female vocals. Maybe some modest mouse.
There is one song that always makes me feel good and relaxed.
GoldFrapp-Number one
Hotel California - The Eagles
These Walls - Dream Theater
Subdivisions - Rush
Rivendell - Rush
Tears - Rush
Holst's First Suite in E flat
Holst's Planets Suite
Super Mario Galaxy Orchestra (^.^)
I'm sure there's more, but that's all I've got for now.
Anything MJ really. Or anything with some really smooth melodies.
