Title: So... How'd That Happen?
Post by: JrDude on July 06, 2009, 02:44:00 AM
In Ocarina of Time, when you take out the Master Sword, you freeze in time. If you look at Young Link, he is only wearing a Tunic, hat, shoes, shield, and sword. But when he re-awakens as an adult, he is wearing pants, a long sleeve undershirt, bigger Tunic, Bigger shoes, and somehow gloves.
How?

and another thing, in every game, Link gets a sword and the sword alone. So how does he get it's sheath? and for that matter, the thing that holds the sheath there? You'd think is was in the chest or wherever you got it, but the Master Sword was in a pedestal and no sheath in sight.

Stop bringing logic into games, it's better if you don't think about it.

But yeah, there's not much of an explanation.

I don't care for logic in games, I just like to hear funny responses.

It's magic to make Link look better.  This was shown literally in Twilight Princess.

Just making things up here:

1. The kokiri suit for Link was made by the Great Deku Tree with the aid of some magic for the consideration that as a non-kokiri he would age and grow.
Either that or the sages or whoever decided to dress him up. (been a while since I've played so I don't remember much D: )

2. The Master Sword is inside its sheath when in the pedestal, but pulling it out deactivates the magic that makes the sheath invisible.

In Wind Waker, the Master sword's sheath magically appears on Link's back too.

yeah, probably magic had something to do with it.

also, adult link's ears are pierced too.
So, I guess the sages did something about that too. :

This isn't actually canon, but in the manga (which is freaking awesome), Link goes to train in sword-fighting with Impa after he becomes an adult, and when he's done, Impa pierces his ears, explaining that it's a rite of passage for male Sheikah.

How about the Sage changes his clothes as he ages? He also bathes him, feeds him, and has him sword fight to gain experience and muscle. Because otherwise you might wonder how Link could possibly be so easily acquainted to his sword, or why he seemed to have such natural muscle. Well, there is your answer. The Sage is all-powerful and did it. As for the ear piercing, it's because the Sage thought it would look sexy. He was right.

As for the sheath, why couldn't it be in the treasure chest? Link just doesn't pick it up so valiantly like he does with the sword (most likely because no one cares about the sheath). As for when he gets the Master Sword... The Sage gives it to him while he is frozen in time, duh.

I don't get how he's sealed away for 7 years, doesn't eat or drink a thing, and still stays alive.

He's put into a seal by sages.
He's also a fictional video game character.

You can stand in the field and keep playing the Sun's Song which will make the days keep going by, but he doesn't eat a thing yet is 100% healthy. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HELP ME! [/joke]

Yeah, I read the manga too.
(I totally agree freaking awesome)
I don't think it is canon.
