The closer to Canada the more people call it pop...My brother went to school in Alfred and he said a lot of people up there called it pop >.<
Soda, I think we're reusing threads.
I'd probably be more likely to call it soda but I just usually say coke or whatever the actual name of the drink is. And maybe soft drink but I never say pop.

Well I always thought the "full name" (for lack of a better word) was soda-pop and that soda or pop were ways of making it shorter (you know, like Ben rather than Benjamin).
Silly Americans giving something a shorter name that's not as short as it could have been.
We Canadians call it pop. :D

It's "Naturally or Artificially flavored Carbonated Beverage."
I call it by the Product's actual name, however.

in michigan they call it pop. here in virginia its soda. i was so shocked when i encountered a language barrier at my grandmothers house.
