Title: Ganondorf, the way he was meant to be!
Post by: Neerb on July 26, 2009, 08:41:24 PM
Maybe this is old, but oh well:  GANONDORF WITH SWORD!!
Basically, he has a permanent invisible Beam Sword, and if you Down Taunt, his real sword sticks and becomes his weapon!  Only problem I guess is that with a permanent Beam Sword, you can't grab items... or opponents either.

Wrong. I watched the video, and he picked up apples a few times, and his sword stayed.

Not bad.......but I think the sword G-dorf had was kind'a wimpy...

It should of been that rusted purple sword from SSBM. :P

All the better!

That's pretty cool.
The Beam Sword sound is kind of out of place, though. They should replace that with a different sound, if they can.

I still think Ganon with a sword seems out of place. Even in the games he shouldn't use swords. Normally he destroys people with his bare hands. Whenever he starts using a sword he gets impaled in some way.

Um... no, he almost never is seen fighting with his bare hands; it's almost always magic or a sword, neither of which Sakurai was smart enough to give him in Melee/Brawl.

In Wind Waker he beats Link unconscious, he could have destroyed him if he didn't try using swords instead. Maybe the lack of sword is supposed to represent PigGanon? He wasn't in Melee like he is as a FS in Brawl.

In a cutscene he hits him; when they actually fight, Ganonodorf uses swords, which he's better with, but because of the fact that the King had wished on the Triforce that Ganondorf would die, Link won anyway.  Ganondorf didn't get worse by using swords, Link just happened to get a fateful power-boost.

And the lack of sword doesn't represent Ganon, it represents Nintendo's laziness in ignoring the Zelda games and giving Ganondorf a slight variation of a moveset they made up for a racecar driver.

He doesn't need a sword, though it wouldn't be that bad if he had one. Though his lack of a sword doesn't represent Nintendo's laziness, the fact that he's a Captain Falcon Clone does. Whether it be a sword or not, they need to give him a moveset with some attacks that he actually uses in a game that isn't cloned off anyone.

And one of his most-used attacks from the games is a sword (2 out of his 3 games feature a sword-fight against him as the final battle).  He doesn't need one, but it makes more sense for him to have one, in addition to magic powers.

too bad using the sword makes him worse in smash

I think they didn't give him a sword in smash because too many characters already use swords.

I don't think that's it. The number of bare knuckle characters still outweigh the sword users greatly.
