Back in the old days, when you bought DK 64, it came with a little thingy with a red top (I have no idea what it's called) to replace another thingy within the N64, the game didn't work without it but every other N64 game worked either with that or the old one. Why did DK 64 need this?
Wasn't it an animation booster? To make the processor keep up with the speed the game was supposed to go?
Yea, my N64 has the expansion pack still in it. I don't know what we did with the old thing.
From what I know, the Nintendo 64 came included with the Jumper Pack, (The "thingy".) which didn't do much of anything. The Expansion Pack is (The "little thingy with a red thing on top") an upgrade to the N64, basically. You take out the Jumper Pack in front of the console and replace it with the Expansion Pack, which doubles the amount of memory the N64 has. Or to put it simpler, it makes some games look better.
Donkey Kong 64 was bundled with the Expansion Pack, and is one of the few games to require it, along with Perfect Dark and Majora's Mask. Correct me if I'm wrong. D=
And mine's had the Expansion Pack as long as I can remember.
because you collect bananas
Red pak was, I think, the Expansion Pak, and I think it provided a little extra memory. Not 100% sure, though.
Let's go to Wikipedia!
It is a system upgrade for the Nintendo 64 that doubles the console's RAM storage capacity to 8 MB.[citation needed]
