How would it work? Would it be like GameFAQS and then when you get a lot like I did you get access to special boards?
why not, the more features the better.
theres two yes-es-es...
I'm not voting because i don't understand what you mean by the karma system.
I have no idea what you're talking about.

You know, like...where you can add 1 or subtract 1 point from the users' total 'karma'.
i really dont get the question. are you spamming? and abusing your mod powers to float it? darn.
No.
people who don't like people can dekarma someone.
and karma people who dekarma those people.
so no. :|

Oh I understand now thanks. :)
No.
It'll get abused, and people will whine if their karma is low.
No. It will be abused.
Yes, but it shouldn't be directly tied into any forum privileges.
I'm sure some 10 year-old will try to screw with mine in a weak attempt to spite me just because I spoke the truth over some matter.
It works a lot better in a place like Outsider. In order for a karma system to be successful, you need mature users. And we don't have an overabundance of those here.
I vote no. There's no point.
I motion for a Swampert system/
I've been on plenty of forums with karma before. It's rather useless.
Yes, please.
It'll get raped. And more features != better forum. Sometimes, less is more.
Now potato power on the other hand...
No. It'll be just like Rankism back at NSider, but worse. I've seen it happen on GameFAQs.

Rankism was a creation of idiots who couldn't make interesting threads and assumed it was because of their rank.
Yesh! ;D
Im not sure, but I do know we're gonna get alot of complaints of users that say someone purposely gave them -1 karma or somethin. I think it might get out of hand in the long run.
What are the benefits of this system?
No, it's useless.
There is no point, it's just something useless.

You can report them for useless karma ;)
karma will start the millions of stupid flame wars. so hell no.
Might as well, as long as people don't abuse them, such as, "If you give me karma, I'll give you karma."

People will abuse them. That's a fact.
I have been to one forum that abused it so bad. :| All they did was smite (thats what taking away karma means) a ton of times everyday. Though, I have been to many forums were people used it well.
I say yes. If it's abused, remove it.:)
Doesn't sound like too bad of an idea. So, I'll say yes. :) If there's abuse going on with it, however, then go ahead and remove. I say just try it first and see what happens.
Like everyone else says, try it for about 5 days, see how people react, and remove it if it's being abused. It seems fun, and as long as people are nice, it should work well.

No, it was the higher-ranks thinking they were more intelligent than the Cappies or the Pirahna Plants.

Because a lot of them tended to be dumb. It's not like that thought sprung out of literally nowhere.
*votes no, making 22Y/23N* :P
Personally, I'm against a Karma system, it'd make decisions in some tourneys, (etc) a bit one sided and may encourage a bit of spam with stupid comments "LIEK I GOTZ MOAR KARMA THAN JOO" :-\
Besides, I think that we need to focus on features that actually improve the community more.....say, a Youtube channel. :P
I'm not a giant fan of the Karma system.

Exactly. Karma's a rather pointless facet that only causes more problems than it benefits.
I'm not voting at the moment, as the specific type of Karma hasn't been defined. If you mean GameFAQs' type, then yes because it allows for punishments of the right extent--So that there's something in between getting your post deleted and getting banned.
Sadly, I haven't seen a board where "Mature" people won't be rankist or "Immature" people won't go nuts with Smiting. Both forms of Karma sound all nice on the top, but people always abuse it...I think we should try one of the systems for a while, and if it sucks we can remove it.
I said yes.
WAIT. Perfect idea just came up. You can turn the karma system off for yourself. Meaning, that it would still exist but no one could give you negative or positive karma, and you couldn't see other users karma nor give them any.
Eh, I voted no, it's kinda like the rep system on GR, I don't really see a point. And it has been abused, and probably will be here too.
though my vote doesn't matter now anyways.

Actually, most Plumbers just wanted the lulz and fun.
Thus, we supressed our intellect. And eventually got banned. Yep.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe... They didn't read the last page before responding?
You're in no place to insult people if you couldn't think of that.

Yes, that was the first thing that occurred to me. It also occurred to me that people have an obligation to check the latest replies in a thread
before replying.
Cheers!
I think it's a pointless system, and will create more problems than it...doesn't...solve...
...Why do karma systems exist anyways?

So people can sleep better at night knowing they're popular on an internet forum. That or for the sake of lulz.

On a job application:
"Accomplishments: I have over 500 karma points on nsiderforums.net, hire me plz!!1'"
Can you please make a decision?
It's been up there way too long.
I have to agree with the other 30-some people on this thread who say "no". It's pointless, and will be abused. After looking around, there isn't an abundance of mature people around [more than in most forums, I will note] and those are the people who will use it well..if only there were more.

I'd hire that guy. As a garbage man, maybe.
I said Y, because I want to see how it will work out.
Well I just put no ahead.
Don't do it, it won't be taken seriously, and people will bring down your karma for stupid things.
Like.
Karma put down:
Cause I don't like your screename. :|
I think this topic has served it's purpose, if the decision can't be made with the 100+ votes made, then we may as well put a pic of "The Thinker" in this thread. :P
Besides, this thread is "crowding" the floats here. :robottongue:
