In Zelda, there are usually many side-quests to do, while or after the required ones. Do you ever try to do them all? (Like getting all of the Heart Pieces/Bottles/Skultulas/Whatever) Or do you do some and ignore most/do most and ignore some?
I just do whatever I happen upon usually. I never finish games 100%, and I rarely get so far into a game that I get to the final boss. I just don't have the attention span to play a game for that long. Twilight is probably the only Zelda game I finished (as in beat the final boss), and even then it took well over a year. Not because the game was difficult in anyway, but because I'd get bored, not play for 6 months, then go back to it and slowly beat it like that. And now, every once in a while when I pick up Twilight, since I'm done with it I'll try to collect everything, explore places I haven't been, kill stuff just for fun.
I don't finish the game 100% at first, I do that after killing the last boss. It was utter hell to do that in Twilight, because I never kept track of how many Poes I killed.
The only two games I haven't gotten 100% on are Ocarina of Time, because I don't want to hunt for Poes on horseback for a bottle, and Wind Waker. I don't have the dedication to go Treasure Hunting anymore.
I usually beat it, then try to find most of the items and such.
Most of time I don't collect everything 100%, though.
In twilight princess I put in an extra 20 hours of gameplay.
All items and magic, but not always all heart pieces.
most of the time 100% PH and the first two are they only ones I haven't beaten all the way
I just got every sunken treasure in Wind Waker =D
I almost have almost EVERY figurine ;D just need some bosses and those guys on a boat with helmets on.
And I don't get why you guys go do it after the final boss, I do whatever I come across, then right BEFORE the final boss, I get everything else (except if it's my first time playing it, then I'll just go to the boss).
I just got every figurine in Wind Waker =D
I also just beat it again, I can't believe they were too lazy to make Link be in his Crab shirt for the last 2 scenes, I also find it odd that you can't make another yellow file.

I don't count that as a side quest. In zelda, you really can't stray that far from the main questline, but it makes up for it with the large dungeons and landscapes. The only zelda i'd say there were 'sidequests' in was windwaker.

You must be an idiot then, either that or you've only played Wind Waker and no other 3D Zelda game.
If there were no "sidequests," then EVERYONE would have 20 or so hearts at the end of the game, they'd also have every Skultula(SP?) and Poe, and also every Rupee that's in a treasure chest.
I'm not the kind of person who finishes a game %100, usually. I do attempt to collect as many bonuses as possible without irritating myself, but I can only recall having 20 hearts in a Zelda game once.
