Now, I was pondering this question a few days ago, since I hadn't played either in a while. I decided to turn on Brawl. While mildly satisfied, it was missing something. So I took it out and put Melee in. Wow. It was everything Brawl needed to be, minus online (which was crappy).
Which do you think is better?
Melee. Hell, I'd choose Smash64 over Brawl. The only reason I keep playing it is because my brother borrowed Melee without me knowing. Oh yeah, and roster.
How many times is somebody going to keep asking this question? Geez...
Brawl. It will last forever.

Brawl. It will last forever.
I seriously doubt that.
Anyway, Melee. I played Melee for like 300 days.
I played Brawl for about a week.
Love both.
Will play Brawl thanks to AiB.
Melee is obviously superior.
Melee is so vastly superior to Brawl. I will always prefer it to Brawl. I don't hate Brawl as a stand alone game, but I hate it compared to Melee.

When I meant forever, I meant for the people who know how to have fun with it. The "tourneyfags" (not you) only like to be very pessimistic towards the game. They mind competitiveness over having fun. Besides, Brawl is one of the most popular games on the Wii.
Brawl. I'll only play melee when I want to play with the hacks and codes.

Melee survived for what, over 8 years thanks to "tourneyfags"?
Eventually, Brawl will die down, its lifespan will not match Melee's. (Which is still being played competitively, see Genesis.)
You know what proves that Melee will last longer? Casual fags played the game for however long they did with no wifi, just real life friends. Even with Wifi, many, many casualfags have already stopped playing because it simply isn't as fun and exciting as Melee was.
Most of us only play brawl because of online and being the new smash, though most of us like melee better realize Melee is a waaayyyyy better game.
Meh, they both have their own advantages, not sure which I actually like better.
*Shrugs*
I feel for myself that Brawl is way better then SSBM.
I don't deny that SSBM is a great game in itself and what not, but I love Brawl so much more...simply because of some features SSBM doesn't have.
Even though it just Sucks, playing Online with my Friends makes it all the better.
Instead of driving out of state to play with most of them, I could go online.
SSE as lame as it was is multi player, and the character roster was extended.
So, I just really love Brawl better.
Well i am fonder of brawl because it's easier to be good at, but that is slowly changing. I am overwhelmed whenever i play melee against a semi-decent player, and ssb64 is just fun. So i would have to say brawl, everyone says its a huge fail, but its not that bad. This (http://"http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJLPPcISH1M") is pretty much the reason all those cool features weren't included in the game. Especially the online ones.

fixed
I played Melee for 7 years....Even though I was far better then any of my friends and usually just ended up playing CPUs I still loved it.
I played Brawl for less then 3 months before I got bored of it, even with WiFi
yeah its an obvious answer, Melee is vastly superior in every aspect except graphics and music.
Brawl. More characters and more stages is more fun. No game is perfect but I will always favor brawl over melee. plus i suck at melee now so I woundnt want to go back.

raped
I don't see how Melee is better at all. More poop + more characters + GCN controls = better game
why all the brawl hating??? whyyyy? i love it!
Personally I think that both of the the games are equlely great. if brawl had the sound effects that mele had when a charictor got hit at high damage brawl would be the best super smash brows game ever.
HOLY BUMP BATMAN
