(AH, LOOK OUT! LONG BORING STORY AHEAD! JUST SKIP TO THE END WHERE YOU CAN TALK ABOUT YOURSELF!)
We drove to Rhode Island to go to a beach today. It was crowded when we got there, but we managed to squeeze into a spot right in front of some seaweed... and some broken off legs of a starfish (what was up with that?)... Anyway, after getting camp set up, putting on sunscreen and all that, I laid out for a bit. Eventually my friend wanted to dip her feet in the water, and I'm really bad at refusing to do things, so I came along when she asked (the sun would wait for me, it was only noon). As soon as my feet touched the water (which was surprisingly not that cold - to me, at least) I was wide awake and ready to go swimming. I surveyed the ocean: The waves weren't as high as I'd like, but I could still see some rough ones coming and going, and I decided it might be some fun. So, I rushed in, while my friend refused to go farther than to get her feet wet. Whatever, you only need one to go body boarding.
And from that moment on, I spent the rest of my time in the waves. There is only one kind of beach I love: The kind with huge, rough waves that come like bangbangbang one after the other, with only a short break to get that nasty taste of saltwater out of your mouth every few minutes or so. Otherwise, it is easy to get bored of the beach. The first wave I rode I went crashing into the sand, got pushed and rolled onto the shore and rammed into my friend's legs. And then I knew today was going to be fun. Getting trampled by waves is always an added plus, as it adds excitement and wonder to the experience. As you are under the water, rolling and spinning around, hitting the ground and wondering helplessly when, or if, you'll come up for breath... I mean besides the scratches and sand burns I got all up my right arm from cutting into rocks or sliding against the sand (why my right arm? I'm not sure, probably because when rolling I would try to protect my face and neck by shielding it with that arm, as well as shifting my weight to my right side), it was exciting.
Anyway, the people who came with me to the beach came and went, but I always had at least one other person surfing the waves with me. I think I've gotten better at my skills, because I have gotten very good at stopping right before the crash zone (although once in a while I dare myself to go a little farther, or can't stop in time, and end up at the mercy of the tides). My favorite wipe out was when I went far on one wave and ended up crashing, did a flip, landed on my feet, then jumped out of the water before I could get a face full of sand. But another wave was right in tow, and even though I tried diving under it, I got blasted back and sent flying to the shore. That was fun.
I should learn how to surf. My brother tried it and didn't like it, and I don't really like having to rely on a board to get me through, but then I'd be dealing with bigger waves and rougher wipe outs. Bigger waves = more fun. Rougher wipe outs = more fun. Anyway, tell me about your beach experiences. It's the end of summer, so most of you have probably had your fair share of beaches already, and can rant about them here. Or maybe you didn't visit one, but can remember something from your past? And if you've never gone to a beach, post here so I can gape at you and realize that even something as cheap as a beach can go unnoticed by some.
Me? Rant?
HA HA HA! My teachers get angry at me because I compress information so much that I don't meet the page requirement but can't find anymore info.
So when I was young, I was swimming in the ocean.
... Yeah.
I live very close to the beach.
Don't go too often, as it is a tourist hellhole.
But I attempt skim boarding occasionally.
Only time I ever enjoy the beach is when we go to the small islands around here.
Like with my friend on his boat a few months ago.
The beach is AWESOME. Living in Hawaii for three years is <3.

Wow you lived in Hawaii? Do tell.
I officially hate beaches after my trip to Lebanon. D: We went to this one, and like..well..I have a really messed up tan now. xD My skin is tanned all the way up to where the sleeves on the shirt I was wearing were, and then after that my skin just goes back to being like really white again. xD

This is why girls go to the beach almost naked.
Also I like how beaches look, I just don't like touching them. I love being in the ocean though.
Just sand and I don't get along. It sticks in my hair for days. BUT WITH THE BLUE SKY THE BEACHES ARE SO AWESOME LOOKING <3
One thing i dislike about beaches is leaving them if you've been in the water. Sand sticks to you, your clothes, everything. I can never get it out... and the ocean kinda makes my hair sticky. ;_;
but i still like being there

Yeah well my mom is Muslim and strict and doesn't even let me wear just a regular swimming suit. D:
I live twelve blocks from the beach over here, and a couple of days ago they actually shut it down 'cause the tides were too high and the riptide was too dangerous or something. The water rose all the way up by our beach shack (restuarant).
Texas beaches kind of suck. I went to Galveston and cut my foot open on something under the water. It really wasn't worth it. But the beaches in certain places in Mexica and Florida are cool.
