Okay, a friend I met on the bus last year was telling me about his speech class, and how he was having trouble coming up with a speech. As he started rambling on, be began to tell me things about his past he's hardly told anyone.
This was a bit of a shock.
He started about how he was actually once a bully back when he was in 7th grade. This was a slight shock because he isn't a normally aggressive type. He said he regrets that decision, because when he turned into one, he lost all of his regular friends.
He stated how it was triggered by how hid dad abused him, his mom, and sister when he was younger, so his aunt had to pick him up early so he could avoid some of the abuse.
Then he told me that he was once picked on. I found this especially shocking because he's the type who doesn't let himself get walked on. Well, now evidently.
He said how all that led him into that. Especially towards these 2 kids, who he busted one of their noses. His behavior then caused 4 kids to move. After his long time friend, and then his girlfriend moved, telling him "Why did I ever like you", it hit him hard. He wondered why he did what he did. He resolved to become a better person.
So, he's changed into a good person today. He said that when he has kids, he'll tell them to stick up for themselves, and not to pick on others, because of what he had to go through.
It was... strange. Rarely does anyone reveal such personal things about their past. He hopes that using what he said to me as a speech will help him get the load off his chest, and make it easier to forgive himself for what he did in the past.
I honestly don't know what else to say...

And I'm sure there are things to make fun of about you, too. You just go out of your way to make sure nobody knows about them.

...Anyways, I don't really any close friends that I talk to a lot like that. But I like how he said when he had kids he would raise them differently so they don't make the same mistakes he did. I've heard it both ways, some people saying that habits that were made when they were raised they pass onto their children, and some saying that they would never raise their kids the same way they were.
I'm going for the latter, my parents are horrible when it comes to disciplining my brothers.
