QuoteThe social networking site Facebook on Monday pulled a third-party application that allows users to create polls after a site member built a poll asking if President Obama should be killed.
There are more than 350,000 applications on Facebook. The company says it disables any that violate its terms.
There are more than 350,000 applications on Facebook. The company says it disables any that violate its terms.
The U.S. Secret Service, the agency assigned to protect the president, has launched an investigation, agency spokesman James Mackin said.
"As is usually the case, our vigilant users reported it to us first," Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt told CNN. "The USSS [Secret Service] sent us an e-mail late this morning PDT asking us to take it down. At that point, it had already been removed, and we let them know."
Schnitt said the application "was immediately suspended while the inappropriate content could be removed by the developer and until such time as the developer institutes better procedures to monitor their user-generated content."
Facebook allows third-party developers to create applications -- such as polls and quizzes -- which are then made available to Facebook users, who use the applications to create specific content. Users may choose to make their content available to the general population of Facebook or limit it only to their friends.
In this case, Schnitt said, the user made the poll asking whether Obama should be killed available to the general public.
That's pretty funny.
Though it's a dumb move to make a public poll about whether you think the president should be killed, or any other political figure.
Freedom of speech my ass imo
I personally don't have a problem with the poll, but Facebook has the right to pull it if they want to; free speech only applies to the public domain.

Well, there has to be a limit. You can't go around saying you want the president dead, lol.

Lots of people did it for Bush.
Facebook has a right to take the quiz down, but the SS investigating it is a little much. I heard about this on the radio, they started off with "Poll about Obama pulled from Facebook!", then they went to commercial. My dad and I were like "lol it's probably like "do you hate the health care plan?" or something". They come back, "SHOULD OBAMA BE ASSASSINATED?"
Honestly, whoever posted it is a complete moron, whether or not he's the head of the people who are continuing to run this country into the ground.
I heard somewhere that it's illegal to say "I want to kill the president of the United States" or something like that, or it may have been a retarded Youtube video made for a couple of laughs.

People did it for Bush, people do it in Canada here, saying that they wish the prime minister was dead.
It's not like they were making a cell in order to kill the president. The government should have a hundred other more important things to investigate than this.
stupid people are stupid?
I voted yes.

Bush is an idiot.
Obama has no experience whatsoever and has done nothing productive.
So you feel a person deserves death just because they have no experince at what they do?

I don't see how that negates my point

Bush got stuff done. Despite him being an idiot, it's not like he made all the decisions. It's the Bush Administration, and I assure you that they were not idiots.
Obama has gotten nothing done. Despite him being smart, he doesn't make all the decisions, and shouldn't, because he he has no experience in the matter. His administration overall has greater intelligence, but less experience.
Obama running the USA like NASA making a space shuttle and asking an airplane pilot to fly it. Sure, he can fly things, but not spacecraft. He has no experience in the matter, but is expected to make the calls.
Bush running the USA is like NASA making a shuttle and having a relative who is in space flight pilot it. He knows how to fly the shuttle, but they won't let him make the big decisions.
The problem with how the whole election panned out was this: Blacks flew to the polls in droves to vote for Obama, thinking that it should improve their quality of life to have a (half) black in office. Logically, this shouldn't happen. Your regular citizen is nowhere near on the level of him. He's a intercourse ing Harvard Graduate. They'd might as well be a completely different species, because he in no way represents them.
And logically, that's how it should have panned out. Obama gets into office, and runs the country how HE feels it should be run.
But that's not what's happening. He feels pressure from his voterbase to pander to them, just because they voted for him off of a false principle. He shouldn't be favoring blacks, yet it's happening because he cracks under pressure. He tries to force things (Health Care) through the house instead of coming to an agreement with everyone.
Bush may have been an idiot from your standpoint (he wasn't), but Obama's lack of experience makes him (so far) a far, far worse president.
I wasn't making a serious argument Jono.
So your not going to answer the question huh?

Hmmm.
So if someone in class didn't know a simple math equation, I guess that means they deserve death as well.
I only asked that because I find it rediculous for others to feel another person's life should be taken just because they feel indifferent about them.
I hate Obama.
But I don't want him to die.

you obviously didn't get my point.
As much, meaning equally. I never said that someone deserved to die for being inexperienced, or that they deserved to die for being stupid. I said that they both deserved to die (upon those grounds) equally, which in this case, they both equally don't.

Alright.
It sounds much clear now.
When I first read your post I assumed that you felt they deserved death due to their disadvantages.
But I understand what you're saying now.
My mistake.
Turns, out it was only a kid. They still questioned him and his parents. He wasn't deemed a threat. Tax dollars at work here.
I remember when lots of people liked Obama. I guess the train has started. Good thing I didn't buy tickets. The place that train goes sucks.
What's with the overly-aggressive use of the "n" word lately? I'm used to seeing it thanks to reading Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, etc., but it's still out of place here.

Nigger.
It's a word like faggot and dyke. If people use them too much, they sound stupid. People becoming hyperoffended by words need to find better ways to vent their indignation.
