HOLY FRICK, RUN AWAY!
No, seriously. In Mario Kart, the Blue Shell is bestowed upon players 5th place and below (Usually), and when used, it hits whoever is in first place. We all know how it works, and I'm sure that the swear jar is a lot happier because of it.
But has anyone bothered to wonder what would happen if this same, apocalyptic item appeared as a power up in a standard Mario game? Really, have any of you considered how awesome it would be?
Would Mario use it as a suit like the Koopa Shell in NSMB, and fly around levels dive bombing enemies? How about picking it up and throwing it, after which the shell dive bombs the closest enemy near it? Improving on that, how about remotely controlling the shell?
Looking at the opposite end, it could also appear as an enemy. What if a Koopa was in the shell, flying around dive bombing Mario whenever it noticed him? How about cannons that launched the shell in an arc, gradually losing momentum as time passes before crashing?
Well, however you imagine it to work, the question is "Do you think the Blue Shell should appear in a Mario platformer? If yes, then how do you think it'll work?"
It would be cool, though not a standard Mario game, I once thought it should be in SSB and it would blow up the person winning.
In standard games though, a Koopa wearing it would be cool, it could even be a Koopa Kid (Mario Party), basically like a flying Koopatrol except not that, get what I'm sayin'? I mean, why make it a Koopa shell if it's never gonna be used on a Koopa?
If it were blue, you could use the item for your own use, maybe a non-spiked one you can ride like a flying skateboard (kinda like Mario 64).
Besides ideas already used, I can't really think of an idea of how a spiked blue shell could be used properly, but I'd like to see it in a regular game.
